Revisado: 04-19-25
The Gold in These Hills, by Joanne Bischof is a beautifully written, heartwarming story that weaves together past and present in a way that feels both meaningful and inspiring. I especially enjoyed how the chapters are told from different characters’ points of view—it added depth to the story and made the connection between generations even more touching.
What really stood out to me was the wholesome tone of the book. It’s refreshing to read a story where people make ethical choices, lean on their faith, and embrace the blessings in their lives. The characters show such determination and patience, trusting that even through hardship, the future holds hope and promise.
This is a story of resilience, love, and the quiet strength of everyday people—and it left me feeling uplifted. A truly lovely read!

Loved the main character's growth.
Revisado: 09-13-24
The book's short story format provided thorough development of the main character, Sophia. She is depicted as a real person – flawed but resilient and lovable. The vivid description of the Galápagos Islands has sparked my interest in visiting the location. Additionally, the portrayal of the disappointing accommodations on the boat was refreshingly believable. The final lesson about adapting left a lasting impression on me, making for a great ending to the story.

Lucinda Riley is an amazing story teller. I love the multi-generation story especially from the different point of views from each character. The transitions are smooth even switching to a different time period. I enjoyed this story immensely. The narrator, Nicolette McKenzie, is very talented and changed her voice for each character bringing them to life. Matching the characters to different personalities helped tell the story in an enjoyable way.
