Historia
In the days before cheap air travel, families didn’t so much take vacations as survive them. Between home and destination lay thousands of miles and dozens of annoyances, and with his family Richard Ratay experienced all of them - from being crowded into the backseat with noogie-happy older brothers, to picking out a souvenir only to find that a better one might have been had at the next attraction, to dealing with a dad who didn’t believe in bathroom breaks.

Nostalgia and education in one neat little book
Revisado: 06-30-21
Not what I was expecting and that's not a bad thing. I did not realize there would be so much history of transportation in the U.S. but I did find it interesting. The author grew up in the same time as me so I could relate to a lot of his childhood memories which was very cool. Now I'm ready for a road trip.

Historia
Make sure the kids aren’t around! Just because you’re a grown-up doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the art of the children’s bedtime story. Nick Offerman presents this collection of 12 short stories written in the style of a classic kids' tale, but with a decidedly dark and adult approach. What really happened after Snow White died, from the perspective of the one medically trained dwarf? A naive wizard professor reports back from the trenches of an underprivileged school of magic. And much more!

I was excited for this and then...

Stories were just weird/dumb. The best part was the last 20 seconds when Nick Offerman sang a funny little lullaby and said "This is Audible" in a deep scary voice.

Best performance I've heard
Revisado: 12-15-16
Would you listen to Their Eyes Were Watching God again? Why?
Yes, Ruby Dee brought the story to life. I didn't just hear it, I felt it.
What about Ruby Dee’s performance did you like?
She put everything into it...raw emotion. I felt like she was living out what the character's were experiencing.
Any additional comments?
Listening to Ruby Dee's narration makes what can be a hard visual read, if you're not acquainted with the vernacular of the time, a complete, immersive experience.
