Compact review for students
Revisado: 07-18-19
As with the rest of the series the primary audience is med students. Thus the presentation concisely covers commonly used drugs used to treat various medical conditions, the mechanism of action and contraindications.
For those who are not medical students: the authors assume you already have background knowledge in chemistry and anatomy. The information is for individuals who will be prescribing these medications regularly. Essentially this translates to the book containing all the information that comes on those little papers packaged with your medication that you usually throw away.

A poor presentation of Chemistry
Revisado: 08-03-18
While the material covered is solid chemistry there were several aspects that make this a very poor audiobook. The first is that it is not meant to be stand alone material, from the beginning it is suggested that you buy and read another textbook! Which in my opinion defeats the purpose of an audiobook. Second the narration quality is very poor. In many instances incorrect words were used and then corrected by the reader which is fine if someone is reading it live but the decision not to edit or rerecord those sections is ridiculous for a paid narration. Also the reader as a sleight tremble to their voice that I found hard to listen to and often times they made hard pauses that usually indicate the end of a sentence mid sentence which made it really hard to follow the ideas being presented. Lastly I had a hard time figuring out who the book is written for. I have a general background in chemistry which made some sections incredibly boring as basics are reviewed and then suddenly it changes to very advanced topics that left me in the dust.
Overall if you have a solid knowledge of chemistry and want a review then this is good. Otherwise look elsewhere.

Excellent overview of cellular biology
Revisado: 08-03-18
This book is for students who already have a general understanding of biology and chemistry. The average person will certainly learn just by listening but the authors assume you already know a decent portion of the cellular vocabulary. It gets right into the works of cellular function and contains a decent section overviewing the different histological techniques used to image cells. The narration is well done and only on a few occasions did the narrator mispronounce scientific words.

A few errors in Chapter 10

To those intersted in Psychiatry or Clinical Psych
Revisado: 08-03-18
I highly recommend this audiobook for medical and psychology students or anyone interested in understanding what a mental illness entails from a diagnostic standpoint. The content is similar to what one would learn in an abnormal psychology class. Each chapter follows the formula of giving an overview of a disorder category such as depressive disorders or sleep disorders and then goes into detail on the most prevalent types of disorders in the category i.e. major depressive disorder or insomnia. For each specific disorder discussed, it goes through the entire diagnostic criteria as found in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders 5th edition (DSM-5). Going through the diagnostic criteria can be rather tedious as it is a list of symptoms being read off but that is important information in diagnosing a mental disorder.
I found the information to be accurate and up to date and an excellent study help in memorizing the DSM criteria.

Useful Review of General Neuroscience Topics
Revisado: 04-20-18
Overall the content of this book is well put together. I would not recommend this book to just anyone who just wants to learn about neuroscience unless they have an understanding of anatomy. The book uses too many technical anatomical words, without explaiation, for the uinitiated to follow. I would recommend this book to anyone who has had a class in anatomy or neuroscience and wants a refresher.
