Creative Non-Fiction At Its Best
Revisado: 10-07-24
An enthralling vacation-read, this book manages also to lift intellect and spirit.
It is an uncannily accessible work of art, weaving skilled narrative and poetry into an engrossing memoir of one young woman's coming of age, of confidence, and of faith.
The mind easily travels amid the stunning scenes, to join the fascinating characters, grappling with academic acceptance, friendship, love, and truth.
Primarily set at Oxford, this book has special appeal for fans of C.S. Lewis and the Inklings.
Note: Immense thanks go to the narrator, whose performance was lovely, lively, and talented, delivering a work of many varied characters, stunning story-telling, and for striking the perfect tone for the many moods and settings, with their sometimes lightning shifts in depths of topic. Amazingly well done.

Oops! I had the wrong idea.
Revisado: 06-29-22
I was drawn to this book, thinking it was going to give tips on how to raise a kind, courageous, generous, and compassionate human; one who creatively collaborates and leads with a heart of service. I do not know what gave me this idea, other than the prevailing focii of 21st century education.
The term "Superhumans" in a more historical usage.
It is the book you want if physical and mental prowess are the things you are working on with your child.

Historia
Life after a felony is about breaking out of the pattern of recidivism. Recidivism refers to a person's relapse into criminal behavior, often after the person receives sanctions or undergoes intervention for a previous crime. Without applying a new way of thinking you might fall back into that same pattern. Recedemption is all about the creative ideas one could incorporate into a brand new life. The life you truly deserve.

Courage. We all wish we had more more of it, but don't know where to find it. There is a reason why courageous people are featured in films and their stories are inked into the history books. It can make us feel like they are made of something...else? But the truth is, most of them were just average people, living mundane lives, who took control of a mere passing moment to act.To be courageous may come at some cost. After all, drawing any sort of attention to yourself in this way is risky. Complicated consequences may follow your new found bravery but one must always be aware of the unseen, ...

Then we got tapes of Alexander Scourby reading the Bible! They expanded my vocabulary, grounded me in truth, and helped me sleep more peacefully. Last night I revisited the delight of this comforting narration!
Note to parenting persons:
If you decide to try the same idea for your child, you may want to preview each book of the Bible before you play it for your young person.
The Bible is not shy about the realities of life, so some families may want to check that their child is developmentally ready for the content in a given book of the Bible.
Many people start Bible exploration with the book of John. It is one of the most widely read tellings of Jesus' life on earth. It features focus on his deep, brave love, his power in making a difference for humanity, and his the intense suffering and victory at the end of his time on earth.

Historia
From the author of the critically acclaimed bestseller, Scent of the Missing, comes a heartwarming and inspiring story that shows how dogs can be rescued and can rescue in return. For her first book, Susannah Charleson was praised for her unique insight into the kinship between humans and dogs, as revealed through canine search and rescue. In The Possibility Dogs Charleson chronicles her journey into the world of psychiatric-service and therapy dogs trained to serve the human mind, a journey that began as a personal one. After a particularly grisly search led to a struggle with PTSD, Charleson credits healing to her partnership with search dog Puzzle. Inspired by that experience and having met dogs formally trained to assist in such crises, Charleson learns to identify abandoned dogs with service potential, often plucking them from shelters at the last minute, and to train them for work beside hurting partners, to whom these second-chance dogs bring intelligence, comfort, and hope.

Historia
This collection of 25 Hercule Poirot adventures is compiled from short stories written by Agatha Christie for The Sketch magazine in 1923 from March to December. In these stories, including "The Disappearance of Mr. Davenheim", "The Veiled Lady", and "The Adventure of the Egyptian Tomb", the eccentric private detective slowly and surely solves mysteries involving jealousy, revenge, and greed. These stories were well-received at the time and cemented Christie's reputation as the worthy successor to Arthur Conan Doyle.

A Classic Treat

The performance delightfully frames these classic adventures.
Murderous backdrop aside, this audio experience feels cozy, transporting the listener to a wonderfully quaint and uncomplicated version of the 1930's.
This is a place to escape and relax. You know Poirot will be consistently genteel and gentle, that you will meet interesting characters, and that that good things will happen.
