Historia
Donna Freitas has lived two lives. In one life, she is a well-published author and respected scholar who has traveled around the country speaking about Title IX, consent, religion, and sex on college campuses. In the other, she is a victim, a woman who suffered and suffers still because she was stalked by her graduate professor for more than two years.

Rambling, Unfocused
Revisado: 08-15-19
I've been listening to this book about two hours, and I'm terribly bored. I am on Chapter 5, but only because I've skipped ahead to the next chapter about half way through each chapter, hoping desperately the author will eventually focus in on the story the cover of the book promised to tell. I keep wondering why she keeps relaying completely unrelated peripheral stories from her childhood. They don't seem to have any importance to the story, but seem more like she is doing what I used to do when the teacher assigned a 1000 word essay on a subject on which I had only 250 words to say. I'm bored as hell, and about to give up if she doesn't get to the point by the next chapter.

Pointless and Boring
Revisado: 08-14-19
I really wanted to like this book. The narrator's friendly voice reminded me of my favorite sister. But even my favorite sister would never be allowed to hold me hostage to this kind of self indulgent rambling. I listed for over four hours, just waiting for an interesting or insightful story to begin, but alas, it was not to be, at least not in the first 21 Chapters. I'm a hopeful person, but I just couldn't take any more. I turned the annoying rambling off and switched to another audiobook. This one's going back. Thank God for audible's guarantee. There seems to be a lot of lousy books out there lately, but at least I can stop in the middle and trade them in.

Historia
Beloved former ABC 20/20 anchor Elizabeth Vargas reveals her alcohol addiction and anxiety disorder in a shockingly honest and emotional memoir. From the moment she uttered the brave and honest words, "I am an alcoholic," to interviewer George Stephanopoulos, Elizabeth Vargas began writing her story, as her experiences were still raw. Now, in Between Breaths, Vargas discusses her accounts of growing up with anxiety—which began suddenly at the age of six when her father served in Vietnam.

Harrowing Account
Revisado: 05-30-19
I've been an Elizabeth Vargas fan for years, so I expected the kind of no holds barred reporting that she offers on her news programs. What I didn't expect were the personal, painful, shameful moments. She's not posing for the camera here, She's giving a warning to those still in the grasp of addiction. She is a brave soul, willing to take her lumps and keep moving. My initial reaction to this book was not favorable, but on further thought, I can see the value in this difficult to digest book. I wouldn't call her tale inspiring, but it is an instructive read. Although it's a bit maddening and depressing, there is a place for it among the celebrity memoirs.

Historia
What do you do when you realise you have everything you think you've ever wanted but still feel completely empty? What do you do when it all starts to fall apart? The second volume of Moby's extraordinary life story is a journey into the dark heart of fame and the demons that lurk just beneath the bling and bluster of the celebrity lifestyle. In summer 1999, Moby released the album that defined the millennium, PLAY. Like generation-defining albums before it, PLAY was ubiquitous, and catapulted Moby to superstardom.

Unexpectedly Wonderful!
Revisado: 05-21-19
I was not a Moby fan, so I didn't really expect to like this book so much. I happened to see him on The Wendy Williams show, and his laid back honesty and humility made me like him personally, so I became curious about his story and ordered the book. I didn't expect much, but what a great surprise!
I guess I shouldn't be surprised that a descendant of the "Moby Dick" Melvilles (yes, that Melville. That's how he got his name) would be such a great storyteller, but he is. He reads the book himself, so you get the full flavor. My only reserve from whole-hearted praise of this memoir is the going back and forth in time with each chapter. It makes the story a little tougher to follow at times, but it is not fatal. I loved the book!

Historia
Make sure the kids aren’t around! Just because you’re a grown-up doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the art of the children’s bedtime story. Nick Offerman presents this collection of 12 short stories written in the style of a classic kids' tale, but with a decidedly dark and adult approach. What really happened after Snow White died, from the perspective of the one medically trained dwarf? A naive wizard professor reports back from the trenches of an underprivileged school of magic. And much more!

Boring Bedtime Stories
Revisado: 05-21-19
If you want to be bored to sleep, this will definitely work. This is an amateur production of boring stories read by uninspired actors. The only thing that held my attention was the overpoweriing background noise (I think they were trying for sound effects, but they only come through as welcome distractions from the story.) Don't waste your time.

Every Christian must pass through the desert on the way to their Promised Land. Wilderness experiences are often times of great uncertainty and change. Our time in the desert seasons of our lives is lengthened or shortened depending on our response to each circumstance. Our faith in Christ is refined in the intense heat of the desert experience as our intimacy with Him increases.

Terrible Narrator
Revisado: 05-12-19
I am about 5 hours in, but I just can't take anymore of this narrator. The story is inspiring, but it's hard to listen to the first person account of an Oklahoma-Texas girl when told in a British accent. If that's not distracting enough, when she changes her voice to be Glynda praying, she puts on this pouty, whiny childish voice that makes me dislike her so much that I stop listening. The real Glynda is not like that. I listen to her YouTube channel all the time, and she is a no nonsense spiritual teacher. Her podcasts are very inspiring, but I don't think I can listen to any more of this book. The narrator is just too annoying.
