Historia
Lark Smith has always had a plan for her life: find a fantastic guy, create a marriage as blissful as her parents’, pop out a couple of kids, and build a rewarding career as an oncologist. Things aren’t going so well. For one, the guy didn’t work out. Theoretically, she’d love to find someone else, but it hasn’t happened. Two, she’s just been transferred out of Oncology for being too emotional. (Is it her fault she’s a weeper?) Three, her parents just split up. Deviating from the plan was … well, not in the plan. A potential solution comes from the foul-tempered surgeon Lorenzo Santini.

Historia
It's been over a decade since Nora left her hometown of Scupper Island, Maine, and very seldom looked back. She's carved out a successful life in Boston, where no one knows her as the awkward girl with the delinquent sister and the dad who left, but a not-as-dramatic-as-it-sounds brush with death has her taking stock of her life. Inspired to reconnect with her prickly mother and snarky teenage niece, Nora returns home for the summer, where she's forced to face the people she's spent the last ten years trying to avoid.

Nice read
Revisado: 02-18-25
Liked it, but doesn’t have the charm of the previous books. Some of that may be due to the narrators. One was whiny, one male was ok as a man but terrible female voices, one nasally. I love listening to audiobooks and the performance can enhance or detract. These did no favors for this book.

Historia
With two biological sons and a promising career, Coleman Carter seems set to fulfill his promise as a resourceful trial lawyer, devoted husband, and dutiful father until his wife, Elizabeth, champions their adoption of a Korean orphan. This seemingly altruistic mission estranges Coleman's conservative parents and demands that he now embrace the unknown as fully as he has always entrenched himself in the familiar.

Magnificent
Revisado: 02-05-25
One of the best books I’ve listened to in a long time. Beautifully written and expertly narrated, the story is full of details and nuances that bring it to life. It’s long, and yet there were so many areas that could be even more fully explored in a sequel. I loved it!

Beautiful & heartbreaking
Revisado: 09-25-24
This is a story that draws you in. The character of Adele is rich and full of depth. Normally I prefer present day parts of stories, but the telling of Adele’s life in her own “voice” is by far the best here. Definitely worth the read!!

Historia
Lillie Silva knew life as an empty nester would be hard after her only child left for college, but when her husband abruptly dumps her for another woman just as her son leaves, her world comes crashing down. Besides the fact that this announcement is a complete surprise (to say the least), what shocks Lillie most is that she isn't...heartbroken. She's furious. Lillie has loved her life on Cape Cod, but as a mother, wife and nurse-midwife, she's used to caring for other people...not taking care of herself.

Loved it!
Revisado: 01-11-24
Great story! I did start to get just a little annoyed by Lilly’s ongoing whining, but soon I was invested in her. Ended up enjoying all of it, even though her husband’s arrogance was obnoxious. Funny, heartfelt, sad… all the things. Didn’t want it to end, but it was a nice, full circle ending. Good twists and turns here and there. Narration fit the characters. Definitely glad I listened.
