Great food for thought!
Revisado: 08-02-24
Great narration and storyline, but mostly I appreciate the deep thought and reflection your story invoked in me. Having grown up in the 60’s, I saw a bit of what you described, my Dad managed a retail store and when he died an untimely death at a young age, his maintenance man, Mr Brown, came to pay his respects. As a black man, that had to be difficult in an all white environment, but he was so lovely and spoke so kindly about my Dad, it never left me. I had witnessed my father’s immense disgust when confronted by racism- these events were extremely formative for me.
Thank you for telling another aspect of this sordid history. We must remember kindness and justice begins with each one of us doing our part to never again allow human beings to be treated so horribly, no matter what. We are, ALL of us, made in the image and likeness of God.❤️

But for her, the sense of impending catastrophe becomes acutely personal when she discovers that her lover, Robert, is suspected of selling secrets to the enemy, and that the man who is following him wants Stella herself as the price of his silence. Caught between these two men, not sure whom to believe, Stella finds her world crumbling as she learns how little we can truly know of those around us.

Monotonous narration

I wanted to like this, but I couldn’t get past the narration. There was very little distinction between character voices, so often one couldn’t discern which character was speaking.

A Wake Up Call to Parents Everywhere
Revisado: 03-12-24
Rob Henderson’s heart-rendering story of his brief journey through throughout his life (so far!) is truly a must-read for parents & for anyone who gives one rip about children.
He gives important statistics about the quintessential role that caring, loving parents- yes, plural- plays in so much if what ails our society now, and has the bona fides to testify to those truths.
Is it any wonder our political elite understand so little about their fellow citizens?
I was so touched and I am so very grateful for you, Rob, for sharing these difficult remembrances.
I pray your future holds a living family of your own- just be sure you find a woman who believes likewise!

What a fantastic story!
Revisado: 11-22-23
I’m not often brought to tears, but this one really brought a big lump to my throat. I wonder if this could soon be our future in America, looking gloomily at 2024. Unfortunately, human nature doesn’t ever change, just repeats itself as time winds down through the years.
Finishing this story, so steeped in the experiences of real people living in terrible times brought on by the nature of the world and of man, I can’t help but think how important the lessons written here will be.
Don’t ever give up hope.
Be kind.
Help people when you can.
Sacrifice for others.
Stick together.
Eat and drink when you can.
I’m sure there’s more!

Historia
A fresh start. That's what Becca hoped the move from New York to Redemption, Wisconsin would be for her troubled family. A way to get her crumbling marriage back on track, and to bond with her difficult 16-year-old stepdaughter. But instead of a new beginning, Becca is thrust into a mysterious past she barely remembers. A past that includes the complications of interacting with her old teenage crush, Daniel, as well as living in her aunt's old house. A house with a violent past. A house the locals swear is haunted.

Weak women make me nuts- the way the main character constantly second guesses herself is maddening and ridiculous. I will not be moving on to future sequels…

I enjoy analyzing characters, and this certainly gives readers the opportunity to do a lot of that! Be warned, it’s a disturbing story- and I am left with the resolve to leave my devices alone, and yo challenge my family to do the same!

Disappointed
Revisado: 01-15-23
I have enjoyed this series but this one was the exception. It’s getting too sappy. Also, I really don’t enjoy fiction as soapbox for a cause. The author goes overboard to assuage the guilt experienced by characters by firmly placing guilt where it belongs, on the criminal. Same is true for guns. Gun violence is committed by criminals on victims. I find this intellectual inconsistencies tiresome- especially in a fictional work. If you’re going to get into issue advocacy, at least maybe try to present all sides fairly? It wouldn’t put off some of your fans…
