Sound echos and is annoying. Narrator is too cliche'd in her script, makes a lot of cheesy statements (i.e., referring to one of her dates as "Drunkleberry Finn"), and is much too absorbed in everything SHE is doing right, but her dates are not. I listened to two chapters before doing a HUGE eye roll and requesting a refund.

I wasn't sure about this book when I first started listening. I had never heard of Brittany and she started out talking a lot about her dates and meeting a gorgeous, flawless man; blah, blah....but, I stayed with it as things started to go south quickly. I literally COULD NOT stop listening. I commute and listen to Audible every day while I do and, normally, I have no problem shutting it off and going into work. This book made me drive really slowly into the parking lot and stay sitting in my car until I finally had to make myself shut it off. Trust me, it will keep you riveted and, as someone who has been in dysfunctional relationships, I can relate to some of the early decisions she made. You become brainwashed and start to blame yourself for things not working. Brittany handles the situation smartly and shrewdly, despite how difficult it must have been. I applaud you Brittany and can definitely say now that I am a fan of yours!!

As a mental health professional, it spoke to me in a way a lot of books about PTSD haven't. Darrell Hammond is brilliant; not only in his impersonations, but in his words and in the understanding of himself. I especially loved the recording of his stage show and interview with Audible at the end. Gripping, real, and, at times hard to listen to...but worth it. One of the most meaningful and brilliant things he talks about is that children aren't born screwed up, or cutters, or addicts; it's the people who we trust to raise us, care for us, teach us, and nurture us AND do a terrible job of it, that causes that. Highly recommended!!
