Historia
At 24 years of age, U.S. Army Ranger Sean Parnell was named commander of a forty-man elite infantry platoon - a unit that came to be known as the Outlaws - and was tasked with rooting out Pakistan-based insurgents from a mountain valley along Afghanistan's eastern frontier. Parnell and his men assumed they would be facing a ragtag bunch of civilians, but in May 2006 what started out as a routine patrol through the lower mountains of the Hindu Kush became a brutal ambush.

Historia
Whilst the Kriegsmarine's surface fleet, restricted for much of the period after 1919 by the terms of the Versailles Treaty, was relatively small in comparison to the Royal Navy, it did possess a number of highly potent battleships and other capital vessels that could - and did - pose a major threat to British interests in the North Atlantic and Arctic Ocean. Amongst the most powerful were the two battleships - the Bismarck and the Tirpitz.

Captivating Read
Revisado: 11-04-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would recommend this to anyone who has an inquisitive mind into the full story of the Tirpitz & the role it played in the Arctic convoy battles. This book delivers.
What other book might you compare Tirpitz to and why?
By the same author: "Bismarck: The Final Days of Germany's Greatest Battleship" This book contrasts the other side of the Atlantic convoy battles.
Which scene was your favorite?
Most definitely the scene where the midget "X" submarines are attempted for a daring attack on the battleship.
Any additional comments?
The narrator does a superb job of parlaying this historical story. He has excellent inflection throughout the story and was a pleasure to listen to.
One word of note though, this story will tell you more than just about the Tirpitz. It will lay out many historical instances of the Arctic convoy battles and how the Kriegsmarine's role played in that.

Historia
The sinking of the German battleship Bismarck - a masterpiece of engineering, well-armored with a main artillery of eight 15-inch guns - was one of the most dramatic events of World War II. She left the port of Gotenhafen for her first operation on the night of 18 May 1941, yet was almost immediately discovered by Norwegian resistance and Allied air reconnaissance. British battlecruiser Hood was quickly dispatched from Scapa Flow to intercept the Bismarck, together with new battleship Prince of Wales.

Great reflection of the battles of two super-power
Revisado: 10-15-15
What did you love best about Bismarck?
I greatly appreciated the over-arching history of the Bismarck with the roles it played in the early part of the war with Op. Rheinübung. In addition, i found the climatic final battle to be of great detail and execution.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Not really applicable.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
I feel the narration was moderate; considering it is a non-fiction book of history, I was satisfied.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It is a great book, but for one sitting may be difficult as there is a lot of information being played out through the story with the detailed accounts of the characters involved and the duties being performed.
Any additional comments?
As a student of WW2 history, I found this to be a very informative & detail-oriented book. I learned a lot more about the Kriegsmarine objectives and the overall intentions to disrupt the British supply routes. I feel the author performed an excellent job on providing details of the overall story and how the Bismarck played in that role from the beginning. The battle of the Denmark Strait was a tragic outcome for the Royal Navy, and the ensuing chase of the Bismarck proved for a very riveting story. In this story, you'll find the compassion of the Royal Navy towards the sailors of the Bismarck after it's sinking - it really tells the human side of the war, which can often times be glossed over in books. If you have any interest in learning more about the North Atlantic war, this is a great place to look.

Historia
From 1999 to 2009, U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle recorded the most career sniper kills in United States military history. The Pentagon has officially confirmed more than 150 of Kyles kills (the previous American record was 109), but it has declined to verify the astonishing total number for this book. Iraqi insurgents feared Kyle so much they named him al-Shaitan ("the devil") and placed a bounty on his head.

Which scene was your favorite?

Historia
In a scrap heap within an abandoned factory, the greatest invention in history lies dormant and unused. By what fatal error of judgment has its value gone unrecognized, its brilliant inventor punished rather than rewarded for his efforts? In defense of those greatest of human qualities that have made civilization possible, one man sets out to show what would happen to the world if all the heroes of innovation and industry went on strike.

Riveting: The powers of the individual mind
Revisado: 03-05-15
What made the experience of listening to Atlas Shrugged the most enjoyable?
Mr Brick delivers a well-executed narration of Ms Rand's book. He brings the characters to life through this by reflecting their personality and dialogue in a riveting way.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Atlas Shrugged?
With-out giving away the storyline; certainly when the world/society realized what Mr Galt was capable of.
Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No
Who was the most memorable character of Atlas Shrugged and why?
Ms Tagart - her tenacity and drive. The realization that her mind is one of the most powerful things and without it, nothing is possible. This reverberates across all the strikers to illustrate that the power of the individuals with their minds can indeed stop the motor & force society's hand.
Any additional comments?
A powerful illustration of the impact of an individual's mind, and when it is stifled or suppressed, the dramatic effects which can be felt across society.
This may be a long listen, but it is worth it to get the entire story-line and how it all pieces together.
