Historia
The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night. But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway - a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors.

Historia
When Leukas, a Christian convert, ventures into the wilds of Gaul to receive the hidden teachings from Mary Magdalene before she dies, he discovers that hidden within the Gospels he thinks he knows is an epic love story—between an educated Jewish woman overwhelmed by her mysterious spiritual powers and a sensual magician devoted to the wisdom of the earth. The secrets she will reveal are both more shocking and more tragic than anything listeners have encountered before.

Why didn’t Sophia Strand hire a voice actor
Revisado: 08-17-24
Well, to be blunt, Sophia strand should not have narrated her own book. She sounds like someone reading a book. Her annunciation is awful. There’s no differentiation of character voices. Her pronunciation of Hebrew words is embarrassing. I hope she re-releases the book with a professional voice artist. Would have been so so so so so much better.

Interesting Story, Poor Narration
Revisado: 07-14-24
The narrator didn’t have enough variance in the way the characters talked. She would kind of trail off in note and sound at the end of every sentence. The rich lady would have talked more sophisticated.

Over dramatic narration
Revisado: 02-14-24
I tried to give the new narrator a chance. It’s already jarring to change narrators. I hate when the narrator changes. But I didn’t want it to ruin the book so I tried to get used to the new one. She over acts so bad. It doesn’t feel natural. And she gets everyone’s intonation wrong. She over narrating. It doesn’t sound natural. I don’t get lost in the characters I feel I’m being overly read to. Over dramatizing.

Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Historia
Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College-Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is–unless she betrays the man she loves.

Good book, annoying romance, bad narration

Narrator too dramatic. She’s stressful to listen to. She’d be fine if she would just take it down 100 notches.

Great narration of a great book
Revisado: 01-15-20
Back in the early 1970's as a teen I was part of the Jesus Freak movement. Within a couple years I felt pretty disillusioned, yet lost. I was missing something in my life. In my early 20's I read The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran and it was one of those life-changing books. I found my spirituality. I've read the book several times through out the following decades. Kate Reading and Michael Kramer are two of my favorite narrators. Over the past several months I have developed severe insomnia, and search out audible books that are soothing and comforting. I had tears in my eyes in the first 15 minutes as their voices brought to life this old favorite of mine. Highly recommend.

I did like this book... SPOILERS
Revisado: 02-17-18
I liked this book until the last hour. Felt rushed and unresolved and brushed over everything you’d been waiting for. And it was unclear. And it felt like the loss of everyone’s favorite character didn’t really flow with the rest of the book. It didn’t feel like THAT kind of book. So it felt jarring and out of place and then nothing really came together. Disappointed. I enjoyed the whole book but the poorly executed end eclipsed all that.
