it's a Harry Dresden book. written in a tone lost to time. this book series is one of the best wizard worlds for adults. the narrator is better than some. so not terrible overall

this is long awaited and much appreciated. but seriously guy, you need to start putting two books together these are barely long enough to scratch the itch. and then too need to wait until 2024 for the next one is a travesty. good job.

a breath of fresh air in a genre made up with more and more increasingly stale farts wearing a guise of books of vision and grandeur. buy it up and spread it like peanut butter. my library is 500 plus and this is going into my favorites with like 4 other books as they serve place markers for types of books and this one is making the cut. thank you that is all.

so much filler

I saw a review that said no filler and I'm gonna call bull. the whole middle of the book is spent on the fauxe Triwizard tournament. so much detail and explanation of useless crap that doesn't further a years spanning book. quite little literally 5 hours of like 3 days in book. the first two books got shit done. this book Is just the author trying to buy time while the world state catches up with his obligations to the publisher. shame I've seen so many books make this mistake. also why does there always need to be a love interest. especially in epic fantasy where lives are very long lived. just seems dumb, like oh I can do magic and dual monsters but hey let me take time out for angsty love interest that is as useless as that tournament of rolls was.

we aren't cultivating

I love the series. it's always a good time. this book however sees a continuation of this over descriptive cultivation rhetoric. I came for a story not 20 hours of useless description of things that are useless almost as soon as you read it. I feel like if you're gonna encompass eons maybe skip some of the more boring parts. I get it you like cultivation theory. but damn your talking about a character who has a long way too go and we are still taking long chunks to theorize on something that matters very little in the telling of the story. hurry up and get on with it, don't wrap up the series,but make it move forward. training montage, and time advancement is acceptable.

yet every word out of the mcs mouth makes me question the age the author picked, the mc talk and thinks like a damn child. I really wanted to like this book series but I'll be returning both of them

let me start by saying it's good definitely a credit worthy book. that being said compared to the rest it's crap. I get we are going for God/astral king but jeesh it feels hollow.blike your setting him up to be the next builder. the depth that was there in the earlier books feels less so. also feels like we have crossed into cheat code territory. no real sense of danger for any character anymore either. idk I'm torn. I definitely had to focus my attention to follow along which is a first.

this book seems like it's losing the thread of the story barely anything of consequence happens in this book this is definitely some grade a filler. I hope it bounces back for the next one but I won't preorder it like I did this one. almost zero face time for the mc, he's supposed to be a transplant from a different planet and yet that's barely a footnote for anything unlike the first one. the more I talk about it the less I like it.
