Until the End of Time is Brian Greene's breathtaking new exploration of the cosmos and our quest to find meaning in the face of this vast expanse. Greene takes us on a journey from the big bang to the end of time, exploring how lasting structures formed, how life and mind emerged, and how we grapple with our existence through narrative, myth, religion, creative expression, science, the quest for truth, and a deep longing for the eternal.

Just what I hoped for
Revisado: 06-05-23
This is a very good book that provides thoughtful explanations giving insight into why Green takes various positions. From free will to free choice and other topics, Green breaks down what the general scientific consensus is versus his own ideas about how conventional wisdom and science come together in an elegant, descriptive way. Loved it.

Historia
In 2010 world-renowned innovation expert Clayton M. Christensen gave a powerful speech to the Harvard Business School's graduating class. Drawing upon his business research, he offered a series of guidelines for finding meaning and happiness in life. He used examples from his own experiences to explain how high achievers can all too often fall into traps that lead to unhappiness. Full of inspiration and wisdom, this book will help students, midcareer professionals, and parents alike forge their own paths to fulfillment.

Interesting but took a long time to get answers and focused on religion
Revisado: 04-11-23
The reading was not good. It was just reading and did not feel like it could have been a person talking to me as part of a conversation. But the comparisons and similes between business and personal life were interesting. It would have been good to have an agnostic view rather than use religion as a guiding force of morality. People who are not religious can still be moral. But the religion wasn’t too heavy or harping. I did listen to the end and I was glad to be given some example metrics that started me on creating a list of metrics suitable for me and my choices. It’s worth reading or listening to, but be aware that it may have some long and drawn out parts.

Historia
There may be no tidy solutions or pithy answers to life’s big challenges, but Michelle Obama believes that we can all locate and lean on a set of tools to help us better navigate change and remain steady within flux. In The Light We Carry, she opens a frank and honest dialogue with listeners, considering the questions many of us wrestle with: How do we build enduring and honest relationships? How can we discover strength and community inside our differences? What tools do we use to address feelings of self-doubt or helplessness? What do we do when it all starts to feel like too much?

Great reference book
Revisado: 03-12-23
This is a thorough and detailed account of how humans developed across the globe and why we are all different. It tracks every angle possible for the advantages and disadvantages of geographic regions, varying climates, farming abilities and so much more answering with solid evidence why some races of people developed at varying speeds of thousands of years and places into perspective what it means to be civilized versus barbaric. The author explains the difference between evolution and domestication. This is a book every racist should read. Sadly, the book is dense and, though well-written and thought out, not written in a format that is palatable for people who refuse to believe we are all truly equal just diverse. The info in this book would make an excellent high school and college curriculum that should be required for all high school seniors and college freshmen.

Man hating story with not enough magic
Revisado: 03-11-23
I listened to the whole thing but struggled to do so. I’m this story, all men are horrible monsters who can’t be trusted. It’s cool that the story is about older women who find they are capable of magic, but they use their powers against men… men who are horrible, but the whole story is men against women. Many of the characters are one dimensional. Many parts become predictable by the middle of the book. Use of language is good, just lacks the type of character development I like and has a flat plot.

Overall, great story
Revisado: 12-16-22
For the audio version of this book, Manning should have been coached to record over a longer period of time and with more feeling than was encouraged as her reading progressed. Compare chapter one’s silky smooth voice to the last chapter’s scratchy and strained efforts leaves the ending of the as tired as her voice. Voice work is not easy and she managed to get through it, but the quality of the audio suffered for a lack of proper coaching from the production team. The story is an important one and well told. Worth the read/listen.

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Revisado: 05-28-21
Everything about this book is great! I love you voices for the characters in the audio version, I love the plot and wholesomeness of the main character, I love the explanation of the science that’s going on in the story, I love the creativity of a non-humanoid alien and his home planet, and the ending was perfect. I recommend this book for all ages

In Beyond Earth, the authors offer groundbreaking research and argue persuasively that not Mars but Titan - a moon of Saturn with a nitrogen atmosphere, a weather cycle, and an inexhaustible supply of cheap energy, where we will be able to fly like birds in the minimal gravitational field - offers the most realistic and thrilling prospect of life without support from Earth.

Nye makes evolution make sense. Fundamentalists are sure to love arguing with this book, but truth is what it is no matter what you believe. Thought provoking on how we will continue to evolve due to natural environment, medical technology, and more. Changed my mind on GMOs and more. Loved it!

What forces molded the universe? Are those forces still at work, removing, changing, or adding heavenly bodies even as we gaze upward? Will humanity, and Earth itself, one day be gone? Are we alone? In an era when science journalism is perhaps more thorough and ambitious than ever before, fascinating explorations of questions like these seem available to us almost every day - provided we have a working understanding of the scientific theories on which they're based.
