Great parallels between the teachings and practices of Christ and Buddha
Revisado: 05-22-23
A few years ago I picked up a book, called “Just Jesus”, which has only the words spoken by Jesus in the New Testament. I was immediately stunned by how similar the teachings of Christ and Buddha are, when you isolate Jesus’ own words. in fact, the only reason the teachings differ are because we look at Christianity through the sole perspective of Saul of Tarsus; better known as the apostle Paul. That led me to look into the history and the reasons why western Christianity is built on the perspective of Paul rather than the actual teachings of Christ. That is a whole other story for another time, but in short, or it brought me face-to-face with the question that I needed to ask myself: whom do I follow? Christ? Or Paul? Since then I’ve been combing through literature, some centuries old, researching Christ’s teachings without Paul’s judgemental and egotistical perspective. In doing so, I came across this wonderful book that compares the teaching of Buddha and Christ, which demonstrates to us that message Christ came to deliver is not a singular truth but rather a universal message of peace, love and detachment from the material world. God bless you on your journey.

Historia
Autumn 1944. World War II is nearly over in Europe but is escalating in the Pacific, where American soldiers face an opponent who will go to any length to avoid defeat. The Japanese army follows the samurai code of Bushido, stipulating that surrender is a form of dishonor. Killing the Rising Sun takes listeners to the bloody tropical-island battlefields of Peleliu and Iwo Jima and to the embattled Philippines, where General Douglas MacArthur has made a triumphant return and is plotting a full-scale invasion of Japan.

Revisado: 02-18-17
This is a history book for the ages. Stories and accounts once lost to time and political correctness are re-told for new generations. Thank you Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard for the courage to write one of the best books of the 21st-century.

Historia
In this must-listen book for anyone striving to succeed, pioneering psychologist Angela Duckworth shows parents, educators, students, and businesspeople - both seasoned and new - that the secret to outstanding achievement is not talent but a focused persistence called "grit". Why do some people succeed and others fail? Sharing new insights from her landmark research on grit, MacArthur "genius" Angela Duckworth explains why talent is hardly a guarantor of success.

Exceptional!
Revisado: 11-25-16
This book could not have come at a more critical time given our country's social and economic condition. Grit is required reading for anyone with children, and who care in the least bit that they grow up and prosper, on their own, in the real world someday.

Whether you're an entrepreneur, an intrapreneur, or a not-for-profit leader, there's no shortage of advice on such topics as writing a business plan, recruiting, raising capital, and branding. In fact there are so many books, articles, and websites that many startups get bogged down to the point of paralysis, or they focus on the wrong priorities and go broke before they discover their mistakes.

A must read for any start-up new or old
Revisado: 11-06-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I recommend this book for all start-ups, new and old. Before you quit your job, read this book. If you've already quit your job and you're starting a start-up, read this book. Did you start a start up and it failed? Read this book. Did you start a start-up and it's been mildly successful? Read this book. Did you start a start-up that's been wildly successful? Congratulations!! You might want to read this book just to compare notes then.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Art of the Start 2.0?

An instant Bosch Classic!
Revisado: 05-22-15
It's impossible to name my favorite Harry Bosch novel, but this one cracks the top 5 list. As he ages, Connelly slows Bosch down, but doesn't lose any momentum in the writing. And I thoroughly enjoyed Bosch's new mentor roll even though I didn't expect to; add to that: I'd eagerly pick up a novel headlined by the new Detective Soto too!
Connelly delivers in the Burning Room!
