Historia
Shay Goldstein has been a producer at her Seattle public radio station for nearly a decade, and she can't imagine working anywhere else. But lately it's been a constant clash between her and her newest colleague, Dominic Yun, who's fresh off a journalism master's program and convinced he knows everything about public radio. When the struggling station needs a new concept, Shay proposes a show that her boss green-lights with excitement.

Narration did not help this slow story
Revisado: 04-06-21
Ugh - the narration of the main character really hurt this audiobook. The main character is already borderline unlikeable - she's nice and all - just hard to root for. She has essentially zero self confidence, is a bit of a willing doormat and an all around total sad sack of a person. And then the narrator read her in whispered tones. It was almost as if the main character was on the verge of quite tears that she was trying to hold in constantly - or about to drift off to... nowhere... just disappearing in her own thoughts and words and would sort of cease to exist. It made it to hard to listen to. I returned this title half way through. And to be honest here, I also bought the physical book first - and couldn't get into it - but I love Public Radio so much, and the author of the book is from my hometown and I'm familiar with her radio work and I really, really wanted to support all of it - what's not to love? Podcasts! Public Radio! Seattle! A rescue dog! A hot co-worker! but in the end, after purchasing both etc book and then the audiobook - I 'll never finish either. The audio book went back and the book will go to my neighborhood's Free Library. It was like hearing a GIANT SIGH.

It all started with the wrong Help Wanted ad. Of course it did. I'm a professional fluffer. It's not what you think. I stage homes for a living. Real estate agents love me, and my work stands on its own merits. Sigh. Get your mind out of the gutter. Go ahead. Laugh. I'll wait. See? That's the problem. My career has used the term "fluffer" for decades. I didn't even know there was a more...lascivious definition of the term. Until it was too late.

Narrator takes some getting used to
Revisado: 01-28-20
She sounds like a lady version of Nick Offerman and it’s quite distracting. She plays the main character as if she is a ditz and it took away from the story a bit. Hard to tell if the MC is whiny, ditzy, panicked, regretful or embarrassed. Most of the sentences that are the main character’s thoughts sound like questions? And it wasn’t charming? Decent story though, but I do wish more care had been put into the direction.

AudioIs glitchy in the second half of the recording
Revisado: 12-07-18
I enjoyed this book very much. I especially loved listening to it while driving backroads in my tiny part of New England. Cheryl’s voice and her story really flowed with the landscape and it helped me to feel more connected to her thoughts and ideas. However, the last hour or so has a terrible repeating glitch, where the first sound in a new sentence is cut off and it made listening almost unbearable. Michael becomes ichael for example- it really just took me right out of the story and the feeling. I listen on my iPhone with a Bluetooth speaker, and I heard this with just my phone only, through speakers in both my car and phone, and on my laptop.
