Contains the principles of the artists way but fleshes them out with great stories of Julia helping other writers with the principles she presents.

This was my first time listening (or reading) this book and I think it the best possible interpretation I could imagine. Enjoyed it from start to finish.

Extremely well written. Depressing at many parts, but with hopeful messages as well. Important book.

Finished listening my second time through. If you enjoyed the first, I think you will find this follow up equally enlightening.

But once I did I really enjoyed the book. Was expecting more analysis along with the relaying of various rituals, but over time I appreciated that Currey allows you to pick up on common and diverging themes yourself.

Cerebral guy, heartfelt advice

Scott Adams gives a lot of unconventional advice: thinking of your life in terms of energy, seeking to obtain a breadth of passably good skills rather than mastering one skill, and eating well and exercising by making the demand on willpower the least amount possible. He uses a lot of images that stick with you (like comparing your body to a moist-programmable robot). One of his most interesting ideas is that thinking does not necessarily have to be correct to be effective in accomplishing your desired ends.

Adams said he wrote the book in part to share his journey in overcoming a rare speaking impairment that lasted five years in order to benefit anyone else who might be facing the same condition, and you get the feeling that the entire book is his attempt to share the very best of his thinking about what has helped him achieve the kind of life he has. Despite Adam's tough self-presentation, I finished the book feeling that he also has a large heart.

Detailed information on the attitudes and purchasing habits of America's affluent (circa the 1990s). I was saddened to learn that Thomas Stanley passed away last year. He did much to contribute to our understanding of how the wealthy think about risk, displaying status, and what they want for their children. Highly recommend.

One of the most important books you could read

I grew up in America in the 80's at the height of America's reinvention (or perhaps the acceleration) of what it considered heathy and what it called food. My mom, I very much appreciate, cooked us a hot meal every day. But as a newlywed, I was a little concerned that a third of the recipes I had accumulated began with a can of cream of chicken and chicken breast. When I spent time living in Japan, I was surprised how many of the "rules" of healthy eating that traditional Japanese cooking broke, but they seemed healthier regardless. Traditional Japanese cuisine included far more actual food, much more vegetables and much, much less sugar. It also tasted amazing. Pollan does a tremendous job of documenting how we got to be where we are dietarily (in America), and offers useful suggestions on how we can get back on course. Thanks to this book, I finally made it over to our local farmer's market, something I had been meaning to do for some time.

I would also highly recommend French Kids Eat Everything by Karen Le Billon (even if you don't have kids) for a fascinating inside view of how the French approach eating (and ideas on how we could improve our Western approach), and Culinary Intelligence (sadly not an audiobook last I checked) by Peter Kaminsky, if like me, you aspire to up your taste level in order to improve your overall well being.

I have owned this book for a couple years and have read it twice. I have looked for it on audible in the past and have not found it, so when I discovered it had become available I bought it right away. Le Billon's story is so instructional and inspirational, I would recommend it to any parent who wishes they could fast forward the dinner hour or who worries their kids are learning to eat well. Highly recommend.

This book is a good listen for anyone who enjoys the Twilight series. Probably not too many big revelations, but a great collection of Meyer's own words about her upbringing and what it was like to write the book that started as a dream and turned into a mega-bestseller.
