Historia
Amber Patterson is fed up. She's tired of being a nobody: a plain, invisible woman who blends into the background. She deserves more - a life of money and power like the one blond-haired, blue-eyed goddess Daphne Parrish takes for granted. To everyone in the exclusive town of Bishops Harbor, Connecticut, Daphne - a socialite and philanthropist - and her real-estate mogul husband, Jackson, are a couple straight out of a fairy tale. Amber's envy could eat her alive...if she didn't have a plan.

Entertaining
Revisado: 05-07-19
I listened to this book partly on a long drive and the remainder while cleaning the house. It kept me entertained for the long drive. It wasn’t thrilling by any means, but entertaining. It felt slightly predictable by midway through. I may just be good at predicting. The writing seemed a little syrupy at some points along the way. Amber didn’t seem to have any redeeming qualities. I would read more by this author.

Historia
One hundred thousand years ago, at least six human species inhabited the Earth. Today there is just one. Us. Homo sapiens. How did our species succeed in the battle for dominance? Why did our foraging ancestors come together to create cities and kingdoms? How did we come to believe in gods, nations, and human rights; to trust money, books, and laws; and to be enslaved by bureaucracy, timetables, and consumerism?

A lot of information distilled in an interesting way
Revisado: 03-15-17
I'm glad I persevered because the book really picks up and is so interesting. I had a great time listening to and pondering the author's points. Where are we headed? I'm scared for us, Sapiens. Now, I feel I have to read the Ms t book!

Really a confidence booster for women.
Revisado: 10-22-15
This book is your invitation to let your freak flag fly. This book was recommended to me by a coaching certification program I am involved in now. In the beginning, I didn't think I was going to like it. It seems pretty "out there". Keep an open mind and just listen and absorb. Complete with action items for becoming a succulent wild woman. I don't think I will pursue all of them, but if I do I know it's okay.

Thirty years in New York City's public schools led John Gatto to the sad conclusion that compulsory schooling does little but teach young people to follow orders like cogs in an industrial machine. Engaging Book and Philosophy
Revisado: 05-06-15
This is a very powerful treatise on the state of the American school system. It met my expectations based on the title. The author gives many convincing examples to support the "Dumbing Us Down". I thought back many times to my education and wished I could have a "do over". If you are considering homeschooling your child, this book will give you the push you need.
