Historia
Uncle Tom's Cabin opens with a Kentucky farmer named Arthur Shelby facing the loss of his farm because of debts. Even though he and his wife, Emily Shelby, believe that they have a benevolent relationship with their slaves, Shelby decides to raise the needed funds by selling two of them - Uncle Tom, a middle-aged man with a wife and children, and Harry, the son of Emily Shelby's maid Eliza - to a slave trader.

Awesome Narrator
Revisado: 11-24-18
I tried reading this book years ago, but never finished due to the “slave accent” used by the writer. The audio book is much easier. This particular version is outstanding due to the skill of the narrator. The narrator does an outstanding job of giving each of the many characters a different voice. He also sings the hymns that are in the book.
Listening to this book will change your perception of Uncle Tom. I think it is very unfortunate that “Uncle Tom” is used as a racial insult. The character Uncle Tom is a very honorable man who sacrificed himself for his family.

Historia
This sobering pamphlet was written in 1788 by an ex-slave ship captain turned clergyman. Famous for writing the hymn "Amazing Grace", John Newton wrote passionately about his memories of the slave trade. His pamphlet helped sway the English Parliament to outlaw this hideous trade. This is a crucial piece of primary historical evidence about the history of a vile blot on Europe's and America's history.

First Person Story
Revisado: 08-06-18
This book is a short, first person story on the authors perspective of the African slave trade. He talks about multiple perspectives of the Slave trade including capture, life onboard a slave ship and arrival in the “West Indies”. Some of the stories are very disturbing and lead you to wonder how slave traders could lose their humanity by participating in this tragedy.
