Historia
On a cold spring night in 1952, a huge meteorite fell to earth and obliterated much of the East Coast of the US, including Washington, DC. The ensuing climate cataclysm will soon render the Earth inhospitable for humanity, as the last such meteorite did for the dinosaurs. This looming threat calls for a radically accelerated effort to colonize space and requires a much-larger share of humanity to take part in the process. Elma York’s drive to become the first lady astronaut is so strong that even the most dearly held conventions of society may not stand a chance against her.

Where’s the rest of the story
Revisado: 09-21-22
The story begins with a massive meteorite impacts just offshore from Washington, DC. We learn later that the impact was an extinction level event that will cause the planet to warm to a point where life will become unsustainable.
The entire story is based on this event yet other than the beginning of the story we hear nothing of any substance for the rest of the book.
Does earth survive? Can humanity leverage technology to mitigate this terrible future? We don’t know.
Where’s the rest of the story!?

Rupert Farley bring Sharpe and this story to life.
Revisado: 02-05-19
Bernard Cornwall weaves a tale that is both vivid in its detail and compelling in its characters. Not just with this story but with all his stories.
It is Rupert Farley that brings these great stories to life. His ability to go from a broad Yorkshire accent for Sharpe (that sounds like he’s Sean Bean’s brother) to Spanish, French or any accent makes Rupert a master storyteller.

Revisado: 11-02-18
Bernard Cornwell weaves historical fact and entertaining fiction into a compelling story. One cannot help but admire Richard Sharp’s ruthlessness and kindness.
It is Rupert Farley who brings this great story to life. His ability to give voice to the variety of characters makes this a great listen.

A must read for your video game playing child
Revisado: 01-13-18
This is a wonderful story about friendship, courage, determination and love in the virtual and real world.
I listened to the book after hearing of the upcoming movie release. I had not heard of the book before so had not read any reviews. It was great to experience the story without external bias.
This should be on every junior high and high schools mandatory reading list.
What a great read, Ernest. Thank you.

Another winner by Michael
Revisado: 10-30-12
What did you love best about The New New Thing?
Getting to know Jim Clark through Michael's eye.
What three words best describe Bruce Reizen’s performance?
There was a point when I thought they had replaced Bruce as the sound of his voice changed significantly. It was okay but not sure I liked it that much. I always enjoy listening to the author narrate their own story.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I loved the story. An insight into an exciting time in Silicon Valley only a few get to see firsthand.

Right-wing drivel...
Revisado: 10-25-10
Thanks, Mark for distilling 300+ million americans into less 10 people. "The Status is ...", "Hollywood is ...". America is a country where the populous has more in common that not. However Mark Levin, and other talking heads like him, make a living driving a wedge between the small differences we all have.
Mark, your concepts of tyranny are just that; concepts. You have no idea what real tyranny is! Visit China, North Korea, Iran, Saudi Arabia, to name but a few, to truly see tyranny.
Lastly the book is as dry as Death Valley. It couldn't have been written from a more boring, academic, standpoint. I have to admit I got two-thirds through the book and had to stop fearful of my sanity failing me. Not sure how many times I yelled at my car stereo whilst listening to this drivel but it was lots.
Mark, if you truly want to write a good book, and selling lots of copies doesn't make it good, write about what brings us together as a country and not what divides us. Don't mistake the democratic process with tyranny.
