First, super worthwhile read.
Kurzweil’s vision of the potential that technology presented in the late 90’s was astounding. His logical next steps led to things like smartphones and tablets almost precisely on time. His expectations of where things would had as technology improves seem to be spot on, albeit some years early. Advancements in AI, nanotech for bio engineering, and evolution of visual technologies and worlds (metaverse) are on the horizon.
Kurzweil is a techno optimist, and despite minor errors in the rate of tech advancement, the blind spot in his predictions feel like his non-accounting for people’s love of entertainment and the way things are. Oddly his predictions on sexual experience advancements will probably come far faster than the advancement in thinking around education and knowledge economics. The next 5 years will be very telling as AI starts to achieve its potential and broad consumer applications are advanced.
I’m eager to see more of the vision Ray sees.

As always, Chrichton does an excellent job painting the scenes throughout the book. This psychological thriller has an interesting concept, but it took a long time to developing the plot with a lot of nonessential detail, It felt like the climax happened and then Chrichton didn’t know where to go with it.

I found this book through listening to the Acquired podcast and decided to listen to it after reading The Hard Thing About Hard Things, by Ben Horowitz.

Ovitz is an engaging storyteller. Unquestionably a talent developed in the industry and helpful in his incredible ability to pitch.

It was fascinating to learn about his approach to creating CAA, and his view on his legacy. I look forward to calling on his insight into the failures and successes he shares in this book.

Incredible story of friendship, hardship, and the harrowing terror that was trench warfare in WWI. The descriptions Remarque gives paint every moment into vivid clarity.
Frank Muller was a good narrator for this book, although somewhat slow.

Scott Brick is an incredible narrator - his consistency and variety with voices make for a wonderful listen.
I finished up the earlier foundation books a few months ago. Diving back in with this story reminded me how Asimov was just a truly incredible world, strike that, galaxy builder. Would recommend

Appreciated the candidness and early career presentation

Michelle illustrates the people and experiences that form her story very well. I enjoyed her candidness on the many subjects she covered - whether it was the way her future husband’s lackadaisical style initially irked her, or how challenging transitioning, mentally and emotionally , the White House to the Trump family was.

I was particularly struck by how she was able to vivify moments from her early career and throughout her 20’s. From her time at Sidley & Austin to her transition into Public Allies, it was enjoyable and insightful to hear the early motivations and struggles of someone who has come so far in their career.
