Historia
Jade Calhoun was never fond of her empath abilities. Now she’s discovered she has another gift she’d rather not unwrap - magic. But when her mentor, Bea, becomes gravely ill and insists Jade’s the only one who can help, she’s forced to embrace her witchy side. It’s too bad she spent a decade shunning the magical community and never learned to harness her powers. Because time’s run out. A trapped spirit has revealed a clue to Jade’s long-lost mother. The resident angel has gone rogue and disappeared with Jade’s boyfriend, Kane.

I really want to return it.
Revisado: 07-28-22
I really tried. I listened to the first one three times, back to back. Still can't remember much of anything from the story. There is nothing wring with it, per se. The narrator is quite good, the story should be engaging, and yet it isn't. I thought, maybe if the story progresses? But no. Background noise.

Historia
When empath Jade Calhoun moves into an apartment above a strip bar on Bourbon Street, she expects life to get interesting. What she doesn’t count on is making friends with an exotic dancer, attracting a powerful spirit, and developing feelings for Kane, her sexy landlord. Being an empath has never been easy on Jade’s relationships. It’s no wonder she keeps her gift a secret.

underwhelming
Revisado: 07-28-22
I don't even remember what this story was about. I listened to it three times and I was so bored it became background noise. There is nothing I can point to and say "that's it! That's why I can't get into this story!". There was nothing wring with the narrator, and while listening to the story, I could find nothing wring with that fit her, it just didn't "stick", so to speak. I wish I could recommend it, but I can't, unless you have insomnia.

So where do we go from here?
Revisado: 07-15-20
The only issue I have with this is that it is too open ended for a story that was supposedly finished after the "last" book in the series. It reads like she's starting up the story line again. Not that I object to that, I would love it! But I am at loose ends as to what to expect in that vein. It's very open ended, when we have already seen into the future 20 years (give or take). so wth is going on? Are we to expect more books for the intervening years? Don't get me wrong.. I will pre-order those too, but this book was not expected; so the question is, can we expect a progression from the end of this book? I would love to see the 20 years we skipped over between the end of the last book (wedding), and where the unbroken time line takes our wonderfully adventurous, turbulent, and well fleshed out friends.

Who could fault David Tenent????
Revisado: 02-02-15
This man is fabulous!! He seems to have an extensive understanding of the fact that we can't see him, and adjusts his style to reading and performing a story instead of performing it in a more visually oriented way. Very talented!! The character voices are wonderful, and even the straight narration is very well done, never boring. I love these books, but now when I read them the characters all have a voice of their own. I plan on getting some of the other books that Mr. Tenent has read, and I am sure that I will enjoy them.. All I can find are some of the classics that he has read, and I loved them the first time I read them. After listening to these, all I can think is that they may be improved with his talent.

Historia
For someone who’s been alive for two thousand years, Atticus O’Sullivan is a pretty fast runner. Good thing, because he’s being chased by not one but two goddesses of the hunt—Artemis and Diana—for messing with one of their own. Dodging their slings and arrows, Atticus, Granuaile, and his wolfhound, Oberon, are making a mad dash across modern-day Europe to seek help from a friend of the Tuatha Dé Danann. His usual magical option of shifting planes is blocked, so instead of playing hide-and-seek, the game plan is . . . run like hell.

Following this series till the end
Revisado: 06-05-14
I have become addicted to this story. I read the books in text, and I hear this narrator's voice, and character representations. And who could read this series without anticipation of what Oberon has to say next? Or what zinger Gronual may aim at the next animate obstacle, along with her staff? Or what tricks the "old Druid" may have up his sleeve this time?? I can't wait to find out what mayhem this latest twist will cause in the world that cannot be seen or heard by us mere mortals! And I must still wait another 10 days!!!! Patience is a virtue.. and that will be one of the mantra that just may get me through the next 10 days without fidgeting..

As Storm Breaking opens, the western allies, led by Karal, Karsite Sunpriest and delegate to the Valdemaran Court, and the Adepts Firesong and An'desha, have traveled deep into the Dorisha Plains to locate the ancient ruins of the Tower of Urtho, Mage of Silence, creator of the gryphons. Legend has it that below the Tower, deeply buried beneath the plains, is Urtho's Vault, hidden stronghold of some of the most powerful magical weapons ever devised - weapons that Urtho himself felt were too dangerous to use.

Mercedes Lackey, totally ruined
Revisado: 07-05-13
One of the things that makes these recordings great is what happens when matching the right talent to narrate the right story. What makes them awful is what happens when the wrong talent is used to do the same. This is an awful combination.. this narrator and this story are not even remotely compatible. How do you ruin a wonderful story, by a wonderful author? Have this man read it for you.

How to ruin Mercedes Lackey
Revisado: 07-05-13
I didn't think it could be done, but here we are. Of all the people they could have had read stories by this author, WHY did it have to be this person? I have read Mercedes Lackey for most of my life and I'm a tried and true fan of her work. Having this man read has ruined the book. It is a truly terrible narration. Don't waist your time, your money, or your credits...

How to ruin a good story.
Revisado: 07-05-13
This is a good story. I read the books many years ago and I own them all. I am a great Mercedes Lackey fan. I have recently learned the best way to ruin a good story is to give it a terrible narration. He has an interesting voice, but as a narrator for this book, he ruined it. I could take no more than 20 minutes of grinding my teeth. This is a truly terrible version of this book. Disappointed doesn't cover it. Don't waist your money, or your credits..

Historia
Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer. Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries....

Fabulous
Revisado: 02-20-13
I love these books, and the audio version of this one was the first I had heard or seen of this series. It will seem a little dull at first, but that impression is short lived. The characters are colorful, the story imaginative, and some of the one liners are a total "scream". There is depth and intricacy without becoming so complicated that it takes away from the story. It appears to me that the author has a deep love of both history and philosophy, and it shows in the unfolding of this tale.. The narrator was a good choice for this series, and I hope that they continue to use him as a change after 5 books would cause many of us little fans to be thrown off a bit.

Why is it necessary to ruin a perfectly good book?
Revisado: 12-29-12
With the understanding that doing a theatrical reading is no easy thing, especially when it is an extended reading with many character voices and accents.. This reading stinks. Dead fish and an incontinent elephant would stink less than this reading. And now I will explain why. First, there is a flow to a story. When you break up the story with inappropriate interruptions in a sentence, or paragraph, you break up the flow of the story. DICTION is another problem. When she is paying attention, her diction is fine. When she is not paying attention, her diction is a distraction because you have to spend time figuring out what was said while the story moves on. However, compared to her character voices, and what I am loathe to call "accents", her diction is a minor problem. This woman has a pleasant voice, and if she were to spend several hours a day for a few months, AFTER taking a course in phonetics and the construction of accents and tonal changes for the purposes of the creation of distinct and convincing character voices.. MAYBE she could manage a story like the one she has been asked to read here. Then again, maybe not. I doubt we will ever know. What I DO know is that her "French" accent sounds like a Chinese woman who has spent too much time in Europe, and you can only understand the lines she is speaking about half the time. Thankfully, though she ruins the story in many ways, you only have to listen to her totally BUTCHER a couple characters. At least in the first half of the book, though I must admit, I am still fighting to get through the first half as the reading is SO very bad.
