not a book for men
Revisado: 11-20-23
seems like there would be a lot of value in this book for battered women who are looking for guidance on how to get out of abusive relationships. however, the author clearly views men as abusive power hungry monsters and gives straw men only when it comes to the abuses men suffer in relationships. I got this book trying to sort my way through an amicable divorce after 20 years only to find that it took every emotion I had and discredited because I was born with a Y chromosome. again I'm sure it's a great story if you are a battered woman and need step by step guidance or a shove to get out of an abusive situation, a noble purpose for sure. this is definitely not a book for men who are, according to the author, at the root of all relationship failures.

Historia
"Are you one of us?" a patient once asked Marsha Linehan, the world-renowned psychologist who developed dialectical behavior therapy. "Because if you were, it would give all of us so much hope." Over the years, DBT had saved the lives of countless people fighting depression and suicidal thoughts, but Linehan had never revealed that her pioneering work was inspired by her own desperate struggles as a young woman. Only when she received this question did she finally decide to tell her story.

turns out DBT is a total crock
Revisado: 01-25-23
so basically she created something that says your emotions are wrong and you're a bad person. she didn't use it herself instead she found some mythical connection with God. what a horrible human being who wrote this book. I can't believe she's credited with creating one of the most detrimental damaging forms of therapy known to man. waste of time waste of everything. please don't listen to this crockpot she has a heart that is tiny black and encased in ice to make up such lies about what works when realistically all she's interested in is destroying everything that makes people who they are. please, I implore you do not read this and if you do read it don't buy it, steal it so that no more copies are printed. I will personally take it upon myself to steal as many as I can and burn them because this book is a plague on the world. this woman's life matters as little as anyone's and should not serve as inspiration to anyone who is considering bettering themselves. horrible! horrible! The worst!

Historia
Waking the Tiger offers a new and hopeful vision of trauma. It views the human animal as a unique being, endowed with an instinctual capacity. It asks and answers an intriguing question: Why are animals in the wild, though threatened routinely, rarely traumatized? By understanding the dynamics that make wild animals virtually immune to traumatic symptoms, the mystery of human trauma is revealed.

Liz Sandberg get a phenomenal job I talkin about the issue of gender equality without sounding like an over-the-top and irrational feminist. much of the advice she gives supplies across gender and culture. I'm really happy I decided to listen to this book. where the fact that we still have to talk about gender equality in the same message boggles me I think she approaches the topic in unemotional end meaningful, authentic, way

practical and exactly the right length

for the topic being covered this is a very practical work which I would recommend. it is not too long so as to believe her the point but it gives you just enough of the science and empirical evidence to be useful.

Historia
For 18 years, Bruce Bueno de Mesquita and Alastair Smith have been revolutionizing the study of politics by turning conventional wisdom on its head. They start from a single assertion: Leaders do whatever keeps them in power. They don't care about the "national interest" - or even their subjects - unless they have to. This clever and accessible book shows that the difference between tyrants and democrats is just a convenient fiction.
