The return of Olive and seeing her brother alive and Lorenzo seeing Olive alive.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Any additional comments?
I went to the town of Oatman, which is named after Olive and one the residents had the luck to actually meet some of the Oatman family back east and people who knew them. The donkeys roam free in the town and they are the funniest to watch. They walk on the sidewalks and poke their heads inside the door of the stores. My friend make the mistake of rolling down her window and a donkey had his whole head inside the car. When I slowly drove a few feet forward to park the car, the donkey just walked with the car with his head still in the window.Way too funny. An incredible experience.

Historia
In 1851, nine members of the Oatman family, on their way by covered wagon to California, were savagely attacked by Apache Indians. Two girls in the family, Olive Ann, 14, and Mary Ann, 8, were taken captive by their attackers. An older brother, Lorenzo, 15, was gravely wounded and left for dead, but managed to make his way back to civilization. The rest of the family had been brutally massacred.

Revisado: 10-29-14
Where does Captivity of the Oatman Girls rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
On top with a STAR
What did you like best about this story?
The details of the whole experience.
Which scene was your favorite?
When the Indians were threateded by the white people to give Olive back or have thousands of white men come after them.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Olive's return and her realizing her brother Lorenzo was alive, and Lorenzo seeing her alive.
Any additional comments?
It was brutal and horrific but it is all true. The hatred of the Indians for the white people can be understood by all the massacres they went through when the white men came onto their land and stripped them of everything they had and knew for generations. It doesn't make it right what they did to Olive's family but it does bring home the fact that humans are the most dangerous animals that ever walked this earth. And unfortunately it is still alive today and even more horrific
