Historia
Monty Roberts' father, a traditional horse trainer, had taught his son to dominate a horse in order to "break" it. But when he was 13, Monty made a discovery that changed his life. As he watched a mare tame a rebellious colt, Monty saw that she was speaking to it through eye and body movements. Astonished, Monty realized that he could train horses by using their language, speaking to them in ways that would form trust and understanding. Developing techniques based on what he learned from the horses around him, Monty embarked on a remarkable career - one that would bring him international fame as the real Horse Whisperer.

The Life of the Author - Monty Roberts

The narrator did an excellent job. If he had not, this book would not have had it it’s due. The narrator was not distracting at all, but really brought the story to life. The story itself is profound. This excellent narrator does the story justice. please go back and read the narrator’s name as unfortunately, I cannot recall it right now without leaving this page and losing my review.

Historia
It's just a small story really, about, among other things, a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak's groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can't resist: books.

Revisado: 05-31-24
So much true history mixed in with a great story. So interesting to wrap your mind around the personification of “death” as the narrator. This book made me laugh out loud. It made tears roll from my eyes. What takes the story over the top though, is the reader. Unfortunately I can’t remember his name and it’s not where I can see it as I write this review. It is truly amazing that an older German speaking man can speak the voice of a 14-year-old girl who is experiencing grief beyond measure. Would absolutely recommend this book. Truly entertaining. One that brings up emotions.

A Huge Distraction
- De Cathy Helding en 01-07-19
The honesty of the author
Revisado: 05-24-24
Worth 25 hrs of listening. A lesson for all: Do not take your freedom for granted. Someone, somewhere, at some time paid dearly for your freedom that you enjoy. In fact - many many paid in many and various ways. True no matter what country you live in.
So why did I give it a “4” Overall rating? Because there is background music during the WHOLE book. Some of it is just “sounds”. Some tones and melodies do not “fit” what is being said. It was distracting and annoying. Would have been ok to use this music occasionally, for instance, at the opening of a chapter, or maybe at the end. But not behind every single word.
Still - I recommend this book for anyone who loves truth and history.
