Historia
In a not-so-distant future, a deadly pandemic has forced the world into social isolation. Confined to their homes, millions now survive off drone-delivered food packages and online-only interactions. It’s an especially lonely life for John Chambers, a drone shipment coordinator for the monolithic Chum Corporation. Trapped in his dead-end job and having just turned 40, John’s started spending more time grinding in virtual reality MMORPGs than he does grinding for his real-world job--and that hasn’t gone unnoticed by human resources!

All Amanda Jetté Knox ever wanted was to enjoy a stable life. She never knew her biological father, and while her mother and stepfather were loving parents, the situation was sometimes chaotic. I absolutely adored this story. Myself someone realizing later in life that I've always been a girl on the inside, hearing Zoeys side of the story as well was indescribable.

Historia
Before she became the first transgender person to speak at a national political convention in 2016 at the age of twenty-six, Sarah McBride struggled with the decision to come out—not just to her family but to the students of American University, where she was serving as student body president. She’d known she was a girl from her earliest memories, but it wasn’t until the Facebook post announcing her truth went viral that she realized just how much impact her story could have on the country.

Very emotional and eye-opening
Revisado: 03-19-21
Having suddenly engrossed myself in these sorts of books, this one reallly opened my eyes to political activism and how -we- can make a differance. Small stones make wide ripples and all that.
Can't lie though, I was in tears for around the last 3 hours or more though. Yes, while working.... I got more than a few stares. Most importantly though from the bottom of my heart. Thank you Sarah for everything you've done and shared.

Historia
When Wayne and Kelly Maines adopted identical twin boys, they thought their lives were complete. But it wasn't long before they noticed a marked difference between Jonas and his brother, Wyatt. Jonas preferred sports and trucks and many of the things little boys were "supposed" to like; but Wyatt liked princess dolls and dress-up and playing Little Mermaid. By the time the twins were toddlers, confusion over Wyatt's insistence that he was female began to tear the family apart.

Absolutly loved this book, especially after just reading "she's not there" by the author mentioned in this book, which definatly brought a smile to my face seeing how one author affected Nicoles mother.

Historia
One of Billboard's 100 Greatest Music Books of All Time: The provocative transgender advocate and lead singer of the punk rock band Against Me! provides a searing account of her search for identity and her true self. It began in a bedroom in Naples, Florida, when a misbehaving punk teenager named Tom Gabel, armed with nothing but an acoustic guitar and a headful of anarchist politics, landed on a riff. Gabel formed Against Me! and rocketed the band from its scrappy beginnings-banging on a drum kit made of pickle buckets-to a major-label powerhouse.

Very interesting read
Revisado: 02-15-21
I've listened to a ton of music from Against Me, growing up myself a bit of a "gutter punk" though I do have to admit. I did "grow out" of it over the years (secretly listening to punk when no-one else could hear) feeling that societal pull to "being a grown up". Now that I myself am struggling with the beginning of transitioning, I heard about Laura's transitioning and haven't been able to stop being drawn once again to the music.
Thank you for a wonderful look into the history and story of you and your band.

Historia
n this unforgettable meet-cute, Samantha Allen traces her story of self-discovery during gender transition and the life-altering partnership that began with a simple hello in an elevator. Feeling “unfinished” at the liminal age of twenty-six, the author had already accumulated decades of emotional baggage growing up in a Mormon family and living with gender dysphoria. When she met Corey midtransition, she felt even more like an awkward shape-shifter. Now Samantha shares how taking a chance on that fortuitous encounter meant having the courage to be herself.

Loved this story, especially as a follow up to "M2 WTF". Your stories are inspirational, and keep me looking on the bright side of my own transition, though much later in life.

Such a good read/reading
Revisado: 12-08-20
Absolutely loved being able to hear this. Pre-ordered the hardcover copy the day it was announced and (im)patiently waited for it to be released. Of course once it did finally come out I've been far to busy with the holidays, and 2020 in general, to be able to sit down and read it. So when I saw this I immediately grabbed it. Not even an hour in, did I come to the decision that I might have made a mistake trying to listen to it at work, during one of many tear and sniffle filled breaks I had to take. Thank you Mary for the reading, Critical Role for the journey, and all the critters for being right there with me. <3
