Historia
When Van Tudor returns to his childhood home, he inherits more than the family farm. His grandfather used to tell him fantastic stories of spacemen and monsters, princesses and galactic knights. Little did Van realize, the old man's tales were more than fiction; they were real. Hidden beneath the old barn, Van’s legacy is waiting: a starship, not of this world. With his combat AI, an android bird named Perry, Van takes his first steps into the wider galaxy. He soon finds that space is far busier and more dangerous than he could have ever conceived.

The concept is good, but the characters packed depth.
Revisado: 04-18-24
The voice actor didn't do enough to differentiate characters which led to the reading feeling bland as I sometimes missed switching dialogues.
That said, for bubblegum scifi, it lacked flavor. it's felt like a string of things that happened and what people said while it was happening. Nothing felt like it mattered. It felt like Omega Force without the heart.

Revisado: 11-20-22
A collection of unrelated short stories. A couple of them were ok, a couple were snooze worthy, but that could partly be because I was expecting a selection of Dresdenverse stories by guest authors. At least a couple narrators were hard to listen to, most were excellent.
In the future, I'll be more cautious about just grabbing things with Jim's name on it that seem to be Dresden related.

Historia
The Iron Wolves are a company of legionnaires whose legendary exploits date back to the Savage Wars. When they are invited to be guests of honor at a ceremony on a small, backwater planet, they look forward to some precious time away from the constant conflicts of galaxy's edge. But when a neighboring country invades, disrupting the ceremony and killing innocents, the Wolves are forced to make an impossible decision. Aid a people pleading for their protection...or obey the cynical orders of their senate to stand down and see how the dust settles.

Reads like Fanfic for Galaxy's edge
Revisado: 04-08-19
it lacked the depth and gravity of the other stories, I almost returned it half way through but persevered to cement the idea with myself that all future spinoffs of this series are going to need to prove themselves or be returned.
Narrator was ok, his constant over emphasis didn't sit well with me.

A great military story full of interesting characters, action, and combat tension. The story takes a very interesting pivot toward the middle, and I loved every minute of it. Going to listen to it twice in a row just to fully understand all the character's stories.

Super soft Science Fiction.
Revisado: 08-02-17
Thought about returning this but the series came so well recommended. the storyline was very linear with no depth and flat dialog, the description of space combat was super simplistic and always came down to "what answer facilitates moving the scene along?" I was pretty unimpressed.

Historia
An airliner’s controls abruptly fail mid-flight over the Atlantic. An oil tanker runs aground in Japan when its navigational system suddenly stops dead. Hospitals everywhere have to abandon their computer databases when patients die after being administered incorrect dosages of their medicine. In the Midwest, a nuclear power plant nearly becomes the next Chernobyl when its cooling systems malfunction. At first, these random computer failures seem like unrelated events.

Light on tech for those in the know.
Revisado: 04-28-16
Would you try another book from Mark Russinovich and/or Johnny Heller?
I thought the storytelling in his book was off topic and not very deep. I'm not sure I'd try another one of Mark's book's without a good recommendation.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Alien Out of the Shadows looks like fun.
Have you listened to any of Johnny Heller’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not, I enjoyed his performance in this book though,.
Could you see Zero Day being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Straight to DVD.
Any additional comments?
I thought the book focused far too much on the idea that assassins and violence would come into play in stopping the viruses. Could have used a lot deeper look into the "How" side of things. Instead, it reads more like "Super virus is released, and it works. Computer techs uses their skills to thwart and kill the perpetrators just in time to release signatures to virus vendors." Meh.

A superb followup to Changes.
Revisado: 04-21-15
What did you love best about Ghost Story: The Dresden Files, Book 13?
The story was twisting, twisted, and beautifully written. I was afraid that the followup to Changes would feel forced, as if they needed a way to 'fix' what was done there. In True Dresden style, the story took you places you just couldn't expect!
What was one of the most memorable moments of Ghost Story: The Dresden Files, Book 13?
The realization of who killed Dresden, and why. I mean DAMN.
Which character – as performed by John Glover – was your favorite?
Sir Stuart was my favorite new character voice. John got to bring his own style to a new character that I loved.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Some fates are worse than death.
Any additional comments?
I think the reviews of disappointment that James Marsters didn't voice it are too harsh. While I think that James is superb, and I want him back to voice Dresden, I think John did terrific, and given the subject of the book, I think a new voice was a perfect choice for this book.

A beautiful followup to it's predecessor!
Revisado: 12-13-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This book was so good, I'd recommend the previous ones (which I didn't rate as well) just based on this book alone.
What was one of the most memorable moments of A.I. Apocalypse?
(SPOILER) When ELOPe first started fending off the massive attack against itself and the military. Standing in a room of humans who hadn't even had time to react to news of attack, narrating until it lost the spare processing to even keep them in the loop. Beautiful.
Have you listened to any of J. M. Badger’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not, but it was a great first experience!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It was, it had me interested and on the edge of my seat the whole way through!
