So when Mayor Kelly suggests Archer is looking for a nanny, and Iris might be available. But in need of money she reluctantly agrees. As Archer and Iris get used to their new roles, is it possible that they might have more in common than they first thought, or is Olive just determined to play match-maker…

Historia
Ruth knew that she shouldn't lay with a man before her wedding night. When she goes for a walk to clear her head, she never expected temptation to call on her so close to home. Temptation was a demon that Ruth could no longer fight, and the day before her wedding was something that God would just have to forgive her for. Jeremiah's insistence wins out, and passion can blind even the most faithful.

Historia
In a future so real and near it might be now, something happens when women go to sleep: They become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze. If they are awakened, if the gauze wrapping their bodies is disturbed or violated, the women become feral and spectacularly violent; and while they sleep they go to another place.... The men of our world are abandoned, left to their increasingly primal devices. One woman, however, the mysterious Evie, is immune to the blessing or curse of the sleeping disease.

Meh... too long and bad narriation
Revisado: 06-20-20
First off... I love SK. I read every book he writes and I'm working on catching up on his older works. This one was about double the length it needed to be. It dragged on in the middle way too much. The story itself could have been cool and I did like the concept but it was a lot of filler in the middle. I don't mind a long book when it is needed but this one did not need to be this long! I tend to have high hopes for books by SKs kids and am always let down.
A lot of review mention how political the book is -- and it is very political. I don't mind it, luckily SK and I are on the same side of politics, but that does probably limit his audience.
One last thing. This is an audiobook that takes place in Appalachia. The reader did not pronounce "Appalachia" the way people who live in Appalachia pronounce it and it made me crazy. Also, I understand why this book needed a female reader - but in a book about Appalachia this lady reading conversation sounded completely mocking and condescending. Someone who could more naturally speak Appalachian dialect would be a better fit for this book. AND what Irked me more is in the interview with SK and OK, they DID pronounce it right-so they are aware of how it should sound, I'm not sure what the audiobook process is but I would hope they would hear their book before it is finalised.

so bad
Revisado: 04-21-20
This was real bad... To be fair I may not be the intended audience.. It was free and I love audible originals usually... and I love manatees so I expected something about them maybe... It might be good if you're between playing Magik the gathering and going to D&D night thats the kind of humor I got...It's political, its boring, its just real bad. It if was any longer it would have been a DNF which I've had maybe 3 in my life.

"I believe there is another man inside every man, a stranger...." writes Wilfred Leland James in the early pages of the riveting confession that makes up "1922", the first in this pitch-black quartet of mesmerizing tales from Stephen King. For James, that stranger is awakened when his wife, Arlette, proposes selling off the family homestead and moving to Omaha, setting in motion a gruesome train of murder and madness.

Great Stories!
Revisado: 11-20-16
Would you listen to Full Dark, No Stars again? Why?
No, I never listen twice.
Any additional comments?
I loved this book. It is a collection of stories/short novels all with a common theme. The title of the book doesn't lie-- these are very, very, dark tales. The stories illustrate a concept that Mr. King and I tend to agree on: people aren't good bad but we all have within us the ability to do wonderful and horrible things. We are all capable of a dark side given the right (or i suppose, the wrong) circumstance.
The stories are about 4 ordinary people who are put into very extraordanry and unpleasant circumstances. They are stories about the character's fight within themselves as their sanity and their control slips away from them as they go through the worst possible situations. This book will make you extremely uncomfortable. You will want to stop reading but won't be able to - one of the best qualities a book can have.
I liked the male narrator but the female was pretty bad... That is half the book.... but, It is worth it to suffer through her sing-songy voice to hear the stories.

True Horror
Revisado: 11-20-16
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes!
Any additional comments?
This is by far one of the most messed up books I have ever read (actually, I listened to to it on audible). I literally gagged on several occasions, I screamed at one point, it gave me goosebumps, I had nightmares... It was wonderful! True horror. I'm not sure why this Stephen King book is so underrated - I'm guessing because no normal person would admit that they liked it. It's gruesome, terrifying, and realistic which what I love about it. I enjoy SK books that are believable and leave the supernatural stuff behind. As we all know, real life can be far more frightening than any make believe stories we can dream up.

This is a must read!
Revisado: 03-06-16
I was reluctant to read this book- I'm not a fan of dogs or books about dogs.... Or race cars or books about race cars.. Luckily, this book isn't about either really. It is about life. It is beautifully written and incredibly enlightening.
The only thing I would change is the corny music that plays randomly between chapters- we can get rid of that
