Historia
In the realms of The Memory Thief, memories are currency that can be traded for goods, services, skills, and experiences. A group of people—the Gifted—can steal and redistribute memories. Etta is secretly one of them, but she hasn’t used her Gifted abilities since she left the rebel Shadows following her mother’s accident two years ago. But when her mother is again in danger, Etta has no choice but to return to the underground group in order to complete her greatest heist and save her mother’s life.

Incredibly boring
Revisado: 06-01-24
Perhaps it’s because this is a YA book (which I didn’t realize when buying) and I’m far from a YA, but this just wasn’t good.
Overall boring story. Forgettable characters. Unconvincingly heroic and increasingly annoying main character. One-dimensional villain. Unnecessary love interest.
There are other, much better books centering around memory. I’ve read at least one in the past month.
I would have quit this an hour in, but I promised myself that I would finish every book I started under 10 hours this year.

Historia
It's not safe for anyone alone in the woods. There are predators that come out at night: critters and coyotes, snakes and wolves. But the woman in the red jacket has no choice. Not since the Crisis came, decimated the population, and sent those who survived fleeing into quarantine camps that serve as breeding grounds for death, destruction, and disease. She is just a woman trying not to get killed in a world that doesn't look anything like the one she grew up in, the one that was perfectly sane and normal and boring until three months ago.

What a terribly unlikable character
Revisado: 02-17-24
Holy hell, I was waiting for some kind of character arch that would make Red more likable, but no. Hating everyone and everything and being paranoid doesn’t make someone a strong feminist heroine. And the twist? Too late and too little to redeem the story. There are better examples of post-apocalyptic survivalism and even parasitic pandemics to choose from.

Historia
Catherine House is a school of higher learning like no other. Hidden deep in the woods of rural Pennsylvania, this crucible of reformist liberal-arts study with its experimental curriculum, wildly selective admissions policy, and formidable endowment has produced some of the world’s best minds: prize-winning authors, artists, inventors, Supreme Court justices, presidents. For those lucky few selected, tuition, room, and board are free. But acceptance comes with a price. Students are required to give the House three years - summers included - completely removed from the outside world.

Not what I was expecting..,
Revisado: 06-20-23
…but I enjoyed it immensely. Much deeper, more layer, and tragic. The descriptions paint such a vivid, claustrophobic world.

Not good
Revisado: 06-08-23
I really enjoyed the first book. I wasn’t aware that it was supposed to be YA as it’s not labeled as such. I was excited to get to this one but… it’s just not good. It reads like awful fan fiction written by and for middle school girls. It barely seems like a continuation of the first book, which was fun science fiction. This was all uninteresting characters with illogical love stories, which just happen to take place in space, with a forced side quest about mom shoved in there. Maybe if YA was my jam I’d appreciate it more but, no, not good.

Historia
Astrid is finally free of the Sisterhood, yet her name carries on. She’s called the Unchained by those she’s inspired and the Heretic by those who want her voiceless once more. Now Astrid uses knowledge of the Sisterhood’s inner workings against them, aiding the moonborn in raids against abbeys and Cathedrals, all the while exploring the mysteries of her forgotten past. However, the Sisterhood thrives under the newly appointed Mother Lilian I, who’s engaged in high-stakes politics among the Warlords and the Aunts to rebuild the Sisterhood in her own image.

Hot mess

This series was all over the place. While not unenjoyable overall, by the end on this third book I was just bored if every character.

So terrible I had to return it
Revisado: 08-02-22
Completely derivative, predictable, and downright boring. Cliched characters that felt so stereotypically out of date. I forced myself through half of it before I gave up.
