Historia
This wonderful piece of literature displays the conversation of Justin Martyr and Trypho the Jew concerning different topics of the Christian faith. Justin marvelously defends the belief in Christ with superb wisdom using the Jewish Scriptures as his foundation. Truly a work of art that will only build one's faith that Jesus is indeed the Christ - the son of God.

Immensely intelligent apologetics
Revisado: 12-23-24
This is less a conversation and more a friendly debate. It’s incredible to me that Justin Martyr was a 2nd century gentile who had studied the scripture so diligently. I bought this debate to hear his dissection of the Mithras fable (a Zoroastrian Christ-like figure whose cult arrived spread in the Roman Empire) and finished the book mesmerized by the depth of theological knowledge the martyr uses. And on top of it all, the narration is exceptional at portraying both Justin and Trypho as logical intelligent theologians. Highly recommend this but it is a book you must truly concentrate on to comprehend adequately.

Historia
Over just the last few decades, laws in this nation have exploded in number; they are increasingly complex; and the punishments they carry are increasingly severe. Some of these laws come from our elected representatives, but many now come from agency officials largely insulated from democratic accountability. In Over Ruled, Neil Gorsuch and Janie Nitze explore these developments and the human toll so much law can carry for ordinary Americans.

Timely, very legalistic but not above your head
Revisado: 11-16-24
This book goes DEEP into the weeds. It’s obvious Neil Gorsuch is a very learned jurist. But he breaks up the legal analysis with vignettes, examples, and humor to avoid leaving you bored or feeling totally frustrated with the state of government or

Historia
During the Cold War, stories of espionage became popular on both sides of the Iron Curtain, capturing the imagination of readers and filmgoers alike as secret police quietly engaged in surveillance under the shroud of impenetrable secrecy. And curiously, in the post-Cold War period there are no signs of this enthusiasm diminishing.

How is this not interesting???
Revisado: 09-14-19
I don’t understand why this book wasn’t interesting. I deeply enjoy true spy stories! OSS, CIA, Stasi, KGB, it’s all great stuff! But this book was just bland. It was so procedural, lacking of any real hook, it was as if they wanted to prepare the stories simply by listing off facts without any semblance of novelization.

Well researched and academic
Revisado: 10-01-18
Very methodical and textbook-esque study of the conflict. Exceptionally well researched but lacking in the sort of hooks that history writers like Ian W. Toll and Hornfischer excel at.

Uninteresting
Revisado: 03-30-17
It wanted to be a Z day book, but the author was so obsessed with painting a tacticool narrative that the story itself just lacked. I didn't bother finishing it.
