Great story but lots of unnecessary language

I loved the story but why, oh why does King love to throw in gratuitous language? I mean lots of needless G** Da** lots of F***. I have no doubt this book will get high praise and reviews but it could have been perfect without that language.

The rising flood of a leftist wishlist drowned me

If you’re a progressive who believes that Al Gore invented the internet you’re sure to love this book. I was ready for a post apocalyptic book with a fun premise. Instead, what I got (and couldn’t finish) was a commercial for LifeStraw, a leftist politics primer and a flood of daydreams about the day that the world could become a communist utopia. I might have tried to finish the book but the amount of acid that accumulated as a result of repeatedly gagging ended the adventure early for me. Skip the book and go watch CNN.

Touching

What a heartbreak war is. Well written, relatable and very touching. I loved it. I’m not a cryer but found myself emotional at the end.

Don’t think, don’t even second guess. Don’t wonder if you want to use a credit on this book, just get it. If you are a Science Fiction fan this book is a sure winner.

Story was Meh but the author makes a good narrator

I didn’t love the book. Very average at best. I did enjoy the narration, however. The author wrote and read the book. I’d listen to more and if doesn’t make it as a writer he should be a professional narrator.

Slow first half. Second was much better

I quit this book twice. The first half was so slow, so full of detail that board me I couldn’t keep reading. I kept coming back though and it finally got good. Good enough, in fact, that I might even buy the second book. It turned out to be more humerus than I anticipated and more enjoyable too. RC Bray is an awesome narrator and it was probably his ability to share a story that kept me interested.

The series is getting tired

I absolutely loved the first book in this series. Sadly, the quality or writing and depth of story decreases with each volume. My kids begged me for this most recent installment but this will be it for me...despite the cliff hanger ending.

Scott, I look forward to other, new and fresh tales. You’re a talented writer so I’m sure there are some more stories you’re ready to tell.

Quite enjoyable

This book has the folksiness of “Where the RedFern Grows and the narrator’s wistful tones bring the story alive. Listening to a good story with a masterful narrator felt like reliving my own childhood with an adult mind. I’m no mathematician or scientist so the technical parts of the book held no baring for me. If I were, maybe I would feel different and couldn’t overcome the shortfalls.

Taken as as a good story with good storytelling I would recommend this book.
