Shocking news reaches them—an old friend has been killed, and a dangerous package he was protecting has gone missing. The gang's search leads them into the antiques business, where the tricks of the trade are as old as the objects themselves. nothing

so sorry I didn't enjoy this 3rd in the series. maudlin, over psychological, undeveloped new characters ( hard to tell apart), and WAY too much Joyce. Won't be reading this author again.

Historia
Often compared to both Ruth Rendell and P.D. James, Deborah Crombie is internationally acclaimed for her deftly written mysteries that combine suspense, with lyrical prose. Sharply etched characters further enrich this story of tangled relationships and dark secrets. Twelve years after their divorce, Scotland Yard Superintendent Duncan Kincaid receives a phone call from his ex-wife Victoria asking for his help.

disappointed
Revisado: 08-17-21
I started the Kincaid series with books 8 and 9 narrated by Michael Deehy. Decided to start the series from the beginning. books 1 through 4, again narrated by Deehy, were quite enjoyable. But this book didn't even sound like Crombie wrote it. The only way I got through it was because I wanted to know the back story of Kip. And because I knew Deehy would again be brought back as narrator. Jenny Sterlin's narration is insipid and grated on my nerves. Not looking forward to the next 2 books listening to her. might just buy the hard cover to avoid it. And by the end of the book I was sick to death of quotes from Rupert...bleah.

Historia
A body just turned up in the small town of Portland, Pennsylvania. The crime is eerily similar to a twenty-year-old cold case: another victim, brutally murdered, found in the Delaware River. Lead detective Parker Reed is intent on connecting the two murders, but the locals are on lockdown, revealing nothing. The past meets the present when Becca Kingsley, who returns to Portland to be with her estranged but dying father, runs into Parker, her childhood love. As the daughter of the former police chief, Becca’s quickly drawn into the case.

used Amazon match up to find this audio of a book I had bought from Amazon. Turns out it's only a couple of chapters of what I thought I had bought. Not even a very good story, but left me hanging obviously in the middle of the complete story at the end. Very much disappointed and on Happy with this mess
