Historia
Alfred Hitchcock was a strange child. Fat, lonely, burning with fear and ambition, his childhood was an isolated one, scented with fish from his father's shop. Afraid to leave his bedroom, he would plan great voyages, using railway timetables to plot an exact imaginary route across Europe. So how did this fearful figure become one of the most respected film directors of the 20th century?

Excellent short treatment of a huge figure

This draws you close to a person who was hard to really know, but had such an impact in our lives through film. The tidbits of Hollywood history and his actors are little pearls sprinkled through the narrative. This was the perfect length, expertly packed and entertaining.

Historia
From the perilous ocean crossing to the shared bounty of the first Thanksgiving, the Pilgrim settlement of New England has become enshrined as our most sacred national myth. Yet, as best-selling author Nathaniel Philbrick reveals in his spellbinding new book, the true story of the Pilgrims is much more than the well-known tale of piety and sacrifice; it is a 55-year epic that is at once tragic, heroic, exhilarating, and profound.

I knew about 10%

Perhaps someone more steeped in this history might not give it 5 stars. However, I learned so much and really appreciated Philbrick's seeming lack of allegiance to a particular group.

Walt Disney was a true visionary whose desire for escape, iron determination, and obsessive perfectionism transformed animation from a novelty to an art form, first with Mickey Mouse and then with his feature films–most notably Snow White, Fantasia, and Bambi.

Good information
Revisado: 01-03-14
What did you love best about Walt Disney?
It was a fairly comprehensive story of a man who pursued greatness, not wealth. It's a warts and all Disney, not Disnified so much.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Walt Disney?
I was astounded to see how many innovations Walt actually made and made possible through his vision. Like Steve Jobs, he was not a focus group inventor, asking people what they wanted: he knew his vision would lead people and make them want what he made. I was struck by how determined and unflappable Walt was.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Arthur Morey?
Yes.
Any additional comments?
I found the footnotes in an audible book distracting and unnecessary. Fortunately these weren't too frequent to be a major distraction. But they were not helpful.
