It took me several starts to catch on, but I'm glad I hung in there. This was an enjoyable read with quite the cast of characters.

Great start, but had to force myself to finish it.

Enjoyable read for the most part, but the last few chapters could've been deleted. Forced myself to finish it the way parents force kids to finish a bad meal. Found myself rolling my eyes after the 100th time I heard how superior seals are to everyone in the world, including other branches of the military. Perhaps the Navy ought to start serving up some humble pie. It's one thing to let me come to that conclusion myself, which I may have, but it's another to just say it over and over and over again. Speaking of repeating the same thing over & over, the editing job was poor. At least half a dozen times the same sentence was repeated during narration. And it was abundantly obvious where a piecemeal voice over edit occurred. Was excited to read this, but it just left me feeling annoyed.

Long, epic, profound, disturbing, enlightening. Highly recommend. Interesting in light of events today, which sadly look like events of the reprehensible past. We must do better.

Bittersweet.

Triumph & heartbreak. I'm a military spouse and this book made me cry tears of joy and tears of heartbreaking pain. Adam Brown makes me proud to be an American and inspires me to be a better spouse, parent, and person.

Love hate relationship with this book

I think I expected to laugh more. I'm not a Amy Poehler follower & haven't seen her tv shows so for me some of the book was TMI about the details of her coworkers & episodes of a show I didn't watch & people I don't know or care about. At that point I couldn't wait for the book to end & it seemed 2 hours too long. I'm glad I stuck it out though. The last chapter was great. I also found myself thoroughly impressed by Amy's creativity, wit, and writing ability throughout even if I was annoyed with the content. I had to write a summary of something for work the other day & I was trying hard not to write like Amy but we have much in common in that respect. My stuff is less funny and also not as random or weird. Overall, I'm a new Amy Poehler fan.

Would you consider the audio edition of Water for Elephants to be better than the print version?

Yes. I loved the voices from the character as he's in his old age and in his youth.

Have you listened to any of David LeDoux and John Randolph Jones ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No. I loved the narrator. I'm going to search for other books that he's narrating.

Who was the most memorable character of Water for Elephants and why?

It's a love story/triangle so the characters to that triangle are the most memorable because you get to know them to decide whether to love or hate them.

Loved the movie as well. It really brought the characters to life. Especially Rosie the elephant! Loved seeing her in full action. She's beautiful!

Yes! Because it's narrated by the author. Her voice brings her story to life in only a way she can.

What would have made Just Between Us better?

There's no story. Just Mario talking about how great Mario is at everything, that's the story. It was quite annoying and uninteresting. He ended with a series of cheesy no-brainer quotes.

Don't waste your time or money on this book. Listen to JLo's book instead. Lots of real reflection there and she's incredibly sweet and humble. Mario should take notes from Jennifer Lopez.
