More than just a satisfying ending.

This final installment does that magical things good endings do. It brings the whole story into a new focus making you think back and aha! That's why...! Character continue to progress in the very real and natural way that Naomi Novik brings to all her books. The ending has just enough surprise to be thrilling and just enough predictability to be satisfying.

Alisha Dadia has gift for bringing genuine emotion to inner dialog. She speaks in a way that makes even the musing of a conflicted mind gripping.

Solid and fun venture into the LIT RPG world. Great characters, well flowing prose, talented narrator. Great entertainment reading. If the author continues to progress as a writer the way the characters progress in the story we are in for a great series.

James Masters bring this whole story to life.

This series only improves with each addition. Masters blows me away. I've watched on the screen in multiple roles and not once have I been taken out of the story by recognizing him. He has crafted a unique voice just for Harry and associates and it is captivating.

Beyond my expectations (and they were high)

Dan Wells does a masterful job of drawing you in to the characters perspective. I predicted a couple things and was incredibly surprised by a couple things. Strong feels at the end.


Kerby Heyborne's performance brought life to all the characters. Each one had a distinct voice. He portrays some of John's moments of rage with such visceral emotion that I began to get the same feelings I have when I am the target of someone else's anger. Powerful.

Most stilted and over enunciated narration

This is an amazing book which I have already read and was looking forward to listening to. Just the opening lines convinced me that the narration might not be tolerable and I should return it. I'm going to give it a little longer and see if the narrator can change my mind. I have enjoyed Teri Clark Linden in films and was surprised at her reading style. Perhaps she was directed to read in this manor. It is flat with almost no personality or emotion. Perhaps an over emphasis on clear enunciation lead to a loss of emotional inflection?

I'll update my review accordingly. This amazing author deserves high quality productions of her novels.

Update: it doesn't get better. I played for some friends and they thought a bot was reading it.
