After the same man is found dead later that day, Sailor is the primary suspect. He swears he's innocent, but multiple witnesses ID him as the perpetrator of the assault. Lily vows to clear his name...only she's not sure where to start with the mounting evidence against him.

Another Great Lily Adventure!
Revisado: 06-04-18
This latest of Lily's life was both intriguing and tense. I wasn't sure how it would go with Lily pairing up with sultry Patience to help Sailor. Aside from the not very realistic portrayal of Patience as a Rom fortuneteller, her femme fatale confidence really came through. I think my own rhythm must've been off because the reveal of the evildoer seemed a bit flat to me- I should go back to relisten. As always with the Lilly books, I recommend this one.

Wonderful Listen
Revisado: 11-25-17
I've read the book but decided to listen to the audio version because Kate Reading has a fabulous voice. She really is prefect as Kick Keswick. I wish the rest of this fun series was available on audio.
This is fun escapism solidly anchored in good research of art, jewelry, food wine and travel. Kellogg is a talented writer, and Kick is a witty, urbane, shrewd character whose self-possession, gravitas and cool-headedness are her trademarks. I hope Kellog is not done with the series!

Fun, Sweet Mystery
Revisado: 08-04-16
Juliet Blackwell does not disappoint with her most recent Witchcraft Mystery. With her cast of regulars, and visits from a couple of previous characters, she introduces us to the world of deadly fashion - Victorian clothing dyed with poisonous ingredients to produce the lush colors adored by the wealthy.
The audible version really brings to life the various neighborhood descriptions, characters' quirks, ownerless dogs and overall sense of adventure. The narrator's voice is wonderfully adept at creating the characters, be they in Lily's vintage clothing store, a possibly haunted mansion, the dog park or Lily's cozy apartment.
I enjoy how the growth of her relationships and events of characters' lives occur in a pretty realistic way. Lily's witch out of the cauldron endearing idiosyncrasies are on excellent display in this story, exemplified by her lack of knowledge of pop culture references to the movies Big and Practical Magic, as well as the board game Clue. All in all, it's lots of fun and plenty of surprises amidst tales of a bygone era and a very toxic trousseau.
