For John Sutton, things are finally looking up. For now. The farm is running smoothly, the local bandits have been pacified, and he is starting to understand how magic works. Though none of that will matter if he can’t get his Doom Points under control.

Story changed in a bad way
Revisado: 04-24-25
This book took a downwards turn for me after the promising first book. The character changed and the tone shifted majorly. I think this is my stopping point for this series.

Good story with some issues
Revisado: 06-16-24
Overall I generally like the premise of the book. There are a few issues that logically don’t make sense in this world. The economy feels like it’s broken a bit and while generally it’s ok, Theres several times I question whether it would actually work. Another aspect is power levels. I struggle with the levels in this book as external characters never pick fights on lower level people? I get it maybe against the rules, but really? Im going to listen to the next books but those aspects leave this only a 3-4 star book for me.

Historia
A young, naïve but ultimately courageous hedge knight, Ser Duncan the Tall towers above his rivals—in stature if not experience. Tagging along is his diminutive squire, a boy called Egg—whose true name is hidden from all he and Dunk encounter. Though more improbable heroes may not be found in all of Westeros, great destinies lay ahead for these two . . . as do powerful foes, royal intrigue, and outrageous exploits. Featuring more than 160 all-new illustrations by Gary Gianni, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a must-have collection that proves chivalry isn’t dead—yet.

Decent series but lacking
Revisado: 03-11-24
I don’t like how this main character consistently kept adding women. There were no real challenges and no real drama that would’ve occurred. Every problem is pretty much solved by fing a new lady. The character doesn’t grow and theirs no much satisfaction in the ending .

Historia
Sen never dreamed of ascension. Such were the aspirations of the rich young nobles, not orphans like him, scraping together a meager living on the streets of Orchard’s Reach. However, when destiny takes an unexpected turn, Sen finds himself thrust into the role of a cultivator’s disciple. Chosen over the nobles who once looked down on him, he is adopted into a makeshift family of three ancient cultivators, each with a lifetime of knowledge and insights. These old monsters will teach Sen everything they can, from the art of the jian and spear to the mysteries of arcane alchemy.

Soil is story with minor issues
Revisado: 02-26-24
Better than most books out there, few minor problems that could be fixed. Overall pace of the book is too slow it this should be fixed in the next series. Characters are well rounded but fall a bit flat. Works building is good not great.

Subpar story with a wispy washy ending
Revisado: 02-22-24
This book is something of an enigma on a bad way. It has elements which are interesting but ultimately falls flat on the read through. Characters feel flat, motivations are very base and not expansive. No real promise or payoff for this book as far as I’m concerned . The books ends with read the next book always frustrating as well

Not my cup of tea and quite frankly story sucks. Too much skipping and too much npc lines. It’s just not natural progression or story.

Solid story, good book for ya, few issues but overall good experience
Revisado: 01-28-24
This book was well done world building. The plot while predictable was enjoyable and enough. My only real criticism is that all the ideas and language where very basic. And that could be because it’s ya , but it was so basic .

Historia
Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College-Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is–unless she betrays the man she loves.

Mediocre middle book with plot trouble and YA level issues
Revisado: 01-22-24
I’m not the target audience of this book , but I gave this series a shot, overall this book has serval inconsistencies in the world, the plot and the story that are glossed over. ***Spoilers ahead ***
First this author has never been around or in the military and it shows. The amount of talking back or just pure ya fantasy on how this would operate ruins some of the lore.
Second, ancients and the first war is brought up in the story and it’s the first time recall hearing about others out their to help fight the enemy. This is poor plot development and should’ve been edited.
Third, the entire army thinks they are battling gryphons, but they apparently can’t fly as high as dragons, fly in heavy rain or and their riders have no advantage. This is poor plot as well. The dragons would’ve crushed them ages ago if this was the case. Why not give them something to make them formidable?
Fourth and final point. The double sigals and talents coming in this book was bad world building as this should have been foreshadowed in the first book. The bond to the 7th dragon type also was plot convenience and not overall an appealing solution to the ward problem.
The voice narration is also poor-low quality and I’d suggest improving it.
