It was an interesting listen and it kept your attention, but it's very political. With its description, you can expect it to be very pro-environmental, but it's also just as anti-America and anti-christianity. All the Christians are shown as idiots or insane ...

Get past the political bigotry, and it's an entertaining fiction.

it was entertaining, but lacked depth in a story. it was like watching a TV show ... and it was very woke ...

I've always heard of Gone with the wind, and finally listened to it. It is an enlightening account of the Civil War for southerners and re obstruction, portrayed with such emotion that is devoid in the classroom. It makes you laugg, love and hate Scarlet, and ugly cry about a fictional character. I'd almost consider it a must read for every American ...

I listened to this book because I knew little of Forrest and what I had heard didn't exactly make me respect him as a person or historical character. I appreciate the author not making him out to be a hero, but told the evidence/facts (as known). I can say that I now have a better understanding of who N B Forrest was vs what "common rumor". That said, he wasn't a perfect man, but for his time, I have more respect for who he was and what he did and believed ...

It's nice to hear an account from an Axis veteran of WW2 and though I've listened to a few before, this is the first one where the veteran was predominantly fighting Americans and it was tense. You get the sense of getting to know him, and yet I hated every moment when he says he set a bomber in flames ... he's not a hero of mine, but I respect him for fighting for his country, even if he bought in to the Nazi propaganda (which I'm sure would be difficult for most people in his situation).

It's always thrilling to listen to accounts of men and women who have "been there" and this is no exception. We are fortunate that a strong American combat aviator was able to survive the war and be good at telling his story. I wish I had heard of this sooner!

I listened to the book called "The Last of the Doughboys" and was so humbled and challenged and grateful to that book where the author sought out WW1 veterans (who were all at the time around 100+ years old) and when I saw this author had done something similar with WW2 veterans, I knew I had to listen to it and it did not disappoint. I'm going to get a physical copy too and make this book mandatory reading for my boys once they are old enough to appreciate what our veterans have gone through to secure our freedoms in America.

it was an entertaining listen but it was a bit annoying at times. I understand there is a lot of liberty that can be taken as we don't know a whole lot about the culture of the ancient Britons but the author seems to have made them out to be an LGBT feminist culture who has nothing but respect for each other ... even though the tribes were at war with each other constantly. The author did try to explain some of the mysteries surrounding the real Boudica ... but there's no reason practically every main character should be gay/lesbian. The relationship with their deities was also one of mutual trust and dependence and for the most part good, unlike every other pagan system which is based on fear ... this was kind of annoying ...

otherwise, it was, again, entertaining and at times had me not wanting to stop, though the last book kind of made me feel as if I was just ready for it to be over. It didn't have the draw like the first 3 books ...

if you like the movie, you'll enjoy this book. I will say that I never could decide whether I liked the characters or not. to me, that made a good book.
