Historia
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

Couldn't do it- couldn't finish
Revisado: 01-13-17
So long, so wordy!! And yet so vague- it was hard to understand what was really happening. It takes forever to get anywhere. I can't believe this book got such high review. I felt like I was listening to a story told by a 10 year old where she says "and then...., and then..., and then...."Sorry. Narrator did a fine job.

Historia
It is the late summer of 1814, and Hannah Bonner and her half brother Luke have spent more than a year searching the islands of the Caribbean for Luke's wife and the man who abducted her. But Jennet's rescue, so long in coming, is not the resolution they'd hoped for. In the spring she had given birth to Luke's son, and in the summer Jennet had found herself compelled to surrender the infant to a stranger in the hope of keeping him safe.

Disappointed
Revisado: 02-09-16
I didn't realize this book had prequels when I started. So it probably would have been helpful to read them first. I enjoyed the historical background but at times I found it hard to finish the book- it just didn't have the meat. The story line had potential but the action fell flat.
Kate Reading did an awesome job!

Historia
In one life-changing moment, the lives of the Jewish exiles in Babylon are thrown into confusion and despair when a decree arrives from the king's palace in Susa. It calls for the annihilation of every Jewish man, woman, and child throughout the empire on the 13th day of Adar, in less than one year. Ezra, a quiet Jewish scholar and teacher, is suddenly called upon to lead the community as they seek God for a reason for this catastrophe.

Suzanne Toren does a great job of telling the story. This book brings the biblical narrative to life with living, colorful characters. And sheds understanding on biblical history

I could hardly continue when I heard the narrator- so annoying with the same lilt at the end of every sentence. Story was enjoyable.
