There’s so many smarter people who can dissect this book for everything it means, but even for someone who read this just because they love The Hunger Games I could still understand why Collins wrote this book. The people are the power.

Historia
Rich socialite, inveterate flirt, and walking disaster Tennalhin Halkana can read minds. Tennal, like all neuromodified “readers,” is a security threat on his own. But when controlled, readers are a rare asset. Not only can they read minds, but they can navigate chaotic space, the maelstroms surrounding the gateway to the wider universe. Conscripted into the military under dubious circumstances, Tennal is placed into the care of Lieutenant Surit Yeni, a duty-bound soldier, principled leader, and the son of a notorious traitor general. Whereas Tennal can read minds, Surit can influence them.

A new, refreshing experience!!
Revisado: 01-20-23
If you liked Winter’s Orbit, this is right up your alley. It has a lot of tie ins to the first story but is completely separate and wildly enjoyable. I absolutely adore Maxwell’s worldbuilding and engaging universe. There are still so, so many questions I have! This story just leaves me wanting even more. I cannot stress enough how both books have become comfort reads for me, and solidified my favorite genre.

An amazing finale.
Revisado: 06-15-22
I love this trilogy! I was counting down the hours to when this dropped, and could barely put it down when I started. I’m lucky i had today off from work because, ruttin’ hell— I wouldn’t have made it otherwise!
I love the structure of this book, how there are multiple points of views that you can experience throughout it. I will say there are definitely parts of this story I had to completely stop what I was doing to really take in what was happening— and the different twists and turns made my head spin! I love that about a book!!
Overall a fantastic conclusion to the trilogy, with plenty of blanket-kick worthy moments and events that caused my bedroom wall to take more than enough frustrated shouting. I enjoyed this final book and the story overall, dare I say this is a new comfort series for me!

I truly loved everything about this story. From the way Maxwell describes so many minute details to how Corkhill paces the story with his warm voice. I also love the representation and diversity described in the book, it is so interesting. As for the story— I distinctly remember a moment where I cried in an airport parking lot listening to this while waiting to pick up my friend. Please, please, please give this book a read or listen! You won’t regret it.

A “page turner”, if you will.

Absolutely lovely from start to finish. The way Pacat describes this world is romantic and fresh. I couldn’t stop listening.
