Historia
When Penny Dahl calls the Finders Keepers detective agency, hoping for help locating her missing daughter, Holly Gibney is reluctant to accept the case. Her partner, Pete, has Covid. Her (very complicated) mother has just passed away. And Holly is meant to be on leave. But something in Penny’s desperate voice makes it impossible to turn her down. Meanwhile, mere blocks from where Bonnie Dahl disappeared live Professors Rodney and Emily Harris. But they are also harboring a shocking, unholy secret.

The storyline was great, but the Trump derangement and DEI was over the top.
Revisado: 04-27-24
The storyline and compelling character development was great. The narrative was engaging, keeping me on the edge of my seat as the plot twists unfolded. However, my enjoyment was dampened by certain elements that felt unnecessarily politicized.
The frequent references to Trump derangement and the portrayal of police officers in a negative light, suggesting they hunt black individuals, struck me as overly biased and detracted from the immersive experience of the story. Additionally, the mentions of anti-vaxers felt like a forced inclusion, echoing the rhetoric often seen in mainstream media outlets.
It seemed as though the book could be a product sponsored by corporations like Pfizer to promote vaccination, aligning too closely with the narrative pushed by networks like CNN. While creative works often reflect current events and societal issues, the overt political overtones in this case seemed to overshadow the storyline rather than enrich it.
In conclusion, while the plot and characters were intriguing, the political slant was a disappointment. It would have been more enjoyable if the book had maintained a neutral stance, allowing the story to stand strong on its own merits.

If the GOP wants to turn its luck around, it’s time to toss the old playbook and find new ways to win elections and attract enthusiastic voters. Like a well-timed coaching hire, Clay Travis is here to break down exactly how the Republican party can turn a few losing seasons into a championship run, and provides a surefire gameplan inspired by winning strategies in sports that will finally give conservatives an edge over the competition.

I’ve gotten to where I can’t take political books much anymore, but I found the ideas here refreshing and agreeing with them more often than not.

For tens of millions of Americans, Tucker Carlson was long the only voice on cable news providing a counternarrative to establishment Washington and the mainstream press on the most important issues of our time: the Covid-19 vaccine, January 6, the Ukraine war, and even UFOs, just to name a few.

This is a very good honest and open look at the man we see on the camera, and allows you to really understand who he is, and how he thinks views the world.

Historia
On May 25, 1977, a problem-plagued, budget-straining, independent science-fiction film opened in a mere 32 American movie theatres. Conceived, written, and directed by a little-known filmmaker named George Lucas, Star Wars reinvented the cinematic landscape, ushering in a new way for movies to be made, marketed, and merchandised. Simply put, George Lucas is one of the most influential filmmakers of the past 50 years.

I’ve heard a lot of second hand stories and Star Wars and the actors. I thought they were interesting, but the real story is simply amazing….mind boggling. They did what many thought couldn’t be done….over and over again. Great book!

Historia
From the horseback days of the Old West through the gangster days of the 1930s, Hamer stood on the front lines of some of the most important and exciting periods in American history. He participated in the Bandit War of 1915, survived the climactic gunfight in the last blood feud of the Old West, battled the Mexican Revolution's spillover across the border, protected African Americans from lynch mobs and the Ku Klux Klan, and ran down gangsters, bootleggers, and Communists.

Good listen
Revisado: 02-15-23
But there were a few woke and awkward moments where he imposes today’s standards on people from a different era. This lone distraction was not enough to pull me away, but it was unnecessary.
But the rest of the story was thoughtful, and an honest interpretation from the author’s research and point of view. Highly recommended.

Honest Story
Revisado: 01-24-23
I wanted to learn more about Elvis after the recent movie, and although I read many of the other popular accounts of his life, decided that no review of his life would be complete without listening to the one woman who knew him best. It is a very honest telling, done with compassion and love, while also revealing some of the dark truths about their life. Thank you for writing this!

Historia
Two months after D-Day, the Allies found themselves in a stalemate in Normandy, having suffered enormous casualties attempting to push through hedgerow country. Troops were spent, and American tankers, lacking the tactics and leadership to deal with the terrain, were losing their spirit. General George Patton and the other top US commanders needed an officer who knew how to break the impasse and roll over the Germans - they needed one man with the grit and the vision to take the war all the way to the Rhine. Patton and his peers selected Maurice Rose.

The further you go, the better it gets, right up to the end. Rose was, in my opinion, what a general should be. He was nothing like the generals we have today who are never held accountable for anything.

A champion Golden Gloves boxer turned U.S. Army legend, Pool was known as the “ace of tankers” for destroying more than five enemy tanks in head-to-head combat.

Historia
From the mid-1980s into the early 1990s, the greatest athlete of all time streaked across American sports and popular culture. Stadiums struggled to contain him. Clocks failed to capture his speed. His strength was legendary. His power unmatched. Video game makers turned him into an invincible character—and they were dead-on. He climbed (and walked across) walls, splintered baseball bats over his knee, turned oncoming tacklers into ground meat.

Historia
When it was first published, Intuitive Eating was revolutionary in its anti-dieting approach. The authors, both prominent health professionals in the field of nutrition and eating disorders, urge listeners to embrace the goal of developing body positivity and reconnecting with one’s internal wisdom about eating—to unlearn everything they were taught about calorie-counting and other aspects of diet culture and to learn about the harm of weight stigma. Today, their message is more relevant and pressing than ever.
