Lloyd is still annoying

Unlike most book series, I actually enjoyed this one more than the previous two. DM Guay showed some character development and made Lloyd slightly less annoying and pathetic. Towards the end of the book he actually shows signs of becoming the character the series has been leading up to. I hope this trend continues in the next book. However, as Lloyd becomes less annoying a new character, Zak, takes his place as a pathetic, blubbering, mess. The only real downside is the obvious, pre-teen level of foreshadowing which might as well be written in red ink (or read in an obvious accent). It's scathing the characters don't figure out the plot sooner. Incompetency is not an over all good plot element. Overall. I still enjoy this book and the narration, and would recommend to anyone looking for a fun, funny, horror-ish book.

Intriguing story and quality narration

This book(s) have an intriguing story and quality narration but suffers from an insufferable character. Lloyd Wallace may be the biggest piece of (expletive deleted) protagonist in the history of literature. He whines, cries, and complains constantly. He can't even be called upon to do the most basic tasks. He is callow in the most basic way. It's unlikely Faust would have hired him, his goals are single minded, petty, and persistently self serving. Whenever one of his coworkers calls upon or needs him, he spends all of his time hiding or crying. Throughout the series, there's hope he will eventually get it together but the reader is consistently let down. When characters have nothing going for them, they typically, at least, have persistence. Lloyd even lacks this skill, he is always the first to give up or never try in the first place (especially if there is a hint of difficulty). The author did a great job of making him genuinely unlikable. I did enjoy this (these) story(s) and look forward to the next book in the series. Hopefully Lloyd gets his (expletive deleted) together at some point (I not sure how long I'll hang on to the "Lloyd's a hopeless loser" storyline).

What does Michael Salla have his Phd in, jello? It's certainly not in historical research or journalism. He doesn't cite his sources, probably because he doesn't have any. This entire book is second hand rumor, heresy, or speculation with not a single fact backing up his theory. Even for a alternate history or UFO reader this is a pass.

Wow, Dennis E Taylor doesn't disappoint. Not to give too much away but this book wraps up the Bobiverse story arc quite nicely. Most Bob conflicts come to a conclusion and there are a few surprises along the way. The largest difference this book had from the others was that of tone. It was still funny but also much more melancholy. The first book was extremely sarcastic and funny, the second book was serious and foreboding, and this one is poetically sad and philosophical. The ending to this book nearly had me in tears. Much as in the same way of the Bobiverse book series, all good things come to an end. That being said, Dennis E Taylor, PLEASE DO NOT LET THIS BE THE LAST BOOK IN THE BOBIVERSE! there are so many more stories to tell.

Interesting investigation, not Jacobsen's best

I enjoyed this book even though it took me a long time to finish. I was aware of the US governments research into ESP but this book went to another level of research. The author did a good job maintaining an objective narrative, not openly trying to sway the reader either way. This book was just a detailed review of the facts of US governments ESP programs. However, the greatest let down about this book compared to Jacobsen's other books is that unlike in her other books, there is no real definitive evidence that the research topic really exists. This hasn't been a problem in Jacobsen's other books as they are about well defined topics or institutions which have become declassified. This book follows that general narrative but the topic itself is up for debate, not only by the reader but the people involved in the story itself with testimony by former remote viewers, physics, magicians, scientists, and government officials. Some of which are true believers, some are confidence men/women, and some skeptics. If you are a fan of Jacobsen, interested in ESP, or a fan of detailed investigations of declassified programs, this is a good addition to your library.

Taylor's Bobiverse is great as always..this book isn't quite as humorous as the previous although there are still some amusing sections. Although near the end, (spoilers!) the novel is very serious and melancholy. Bob (in all his early variations) is learning the deep meaning of loss in a variety of ways which may, in future novels, have Bob(s) slowly drift away from personal contact. If I had to sum this novel up, given an original Star Wars Trilogy story arc, this is definitely the "Empire" of the series thus far.

I really enjoyed this book. It has a single narrative with essentially two very different settings. The first is a bleak dystopian future that is truly depressing while the other is a fantasy world where almost anything is possible, especially if it references late 70's or 80's American and Japanese pop culture. If you love video games from any era (classic or modern), 80's movies, or Japanese manga, anime, or kaiju and/or YA dystopian future novels.....Read This Book! If you do not however, brush up on some of the topics covered in the previous sentence and give it a try anyway, it's a lot of fun. Wil Wheaton also kills it in his narration, which seems ironic as he is referenced in the story. I imagine it must have been difficult to get through that part during the recording without a snicker. If you don't know who Wil Wheaton is, he played Leslie Crusher on Star Trek TNG and has become a pop culture icon, which is why he is narrating a book about pop culture.

Settling Scores

Any additional comments?

Although this book is a fact based outlook on the UFO phenomenon and does cover many of the well known accounts, the book does take a settling scores attitude about a third on the way in. Stanton Friedman and Kathleen Marden are avid UFO researchers and one is a former nuclear scientist with real credentials whose work I both like and respect. I am of two minds about this book though. On one hand, it seemed like an aging Friedman and Marden used this book to settle scores with long dead opponents who can no longer defend themselves (although they also praise long dead allies). Let it be known that for the most part I agree with Friedman and Marden on most of his accusations although there are a few spots where both sides are just petty and confrontational. One the other hand, I am quite pleased that Friedman and Marden dismantle "UFO charlatans" such as Bob Lazar and Billy Meier whose stories are not only unfactual but cause real problems for actual scientific study of the phenomenon. They also, to a lesser extant, try to disassemble some of the more fantastic accusations (alien hybrids and secret underground alien bases) made by other UFO researchers who do not use creditable sources or verify their sources. They do this very little and without naming names probably to avoid unuseful contention is an already convoluted subject. This book is a good addition to ones UFO library especially if you are not familiar with how creditable UFO and military research is conducted (opposed to those that do not do those things i.e.Nick Redfern). This book is also a good example of the UFO research people interested is this subject should be reading. It is ,however, not a good starting point if you're just getting started with this subject. This book is best for someone who has read numerous or at least a few other serious (and maybe not so serious) UFO research books and possibly UFO skeptic books (as part of the scientific process is both hearing both sides of the argument and keeping an open mind) as it references many other UFO authors, their work, and the UFO skeptics and their work.

This is easily the best UFO (UAP) related sci fi I have read, and to think it comes from a punk-rock rockstar. Cleverly mixes UFO lore with an engaging story that often hints at being based on real life events or situations. The only negative is the narrator does not do voices or put accents of the various nationalities of the characters. I recommend for any UFO (UAP) enthusiast, contemporary sci fi lover, or anyone who loved the X-files.

This is a really good book that I would recommend to anybody. Like many others, I wasn't sure about this one so I read the reviews and they were overwhelmingly positive. I've been snared by that one before but decided to take a chance and I am glad I did. This is easily one of the best books I have read/listened to this year. All I will say is that it isn't everyday you get to read a book containing technical and moral dialog between different sentient consciences with different personalities of the same person as AI. Also, when Admiral Akbar rolled his fish eyes, I died laughing.
