Historia
Rob Paulsen is one of Hollywood's busiest and most passionate performers. If you don't know him by name, you will know him by the many characters he has brought to life: Pinky from Pinky and the Brain and Yakko from Animaniacs, Raphael from the original animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and many more. So, you can imagine how terrifying it must have been when Rob was diagnosed with throat cancer, putting his entire livelihood in jeopardy and threatening to rob the world of all his loveable characters that filled our youth and adulthood with humor and delight.

I love Rob Paulsen! Funny, charming, full of heart!
Revisado: 05-04-25
I'm two thirds in and I just can't wait any longer to write this review. I have to say that the immensely talented voice actor Rob Paulsen is just as wonderful in person. (Btw, the autocorrect keeps changing Paulsen to Paulson, and I'm trying to fix them as I go. Sorry if I miss any!). This memoir has a lot of hilarious industry related anecdotes and also, some very personal accounts that I'm sure were tough to talk about. I received a physical copy of the book for Christmas and wow, this audiobook absolutely does it justice, and more.
Side note: I am fortunate to be able to say that he truly is a super nice guy in person, especially with fans. Both me and my daughteus are on the spectrum, and we are TMNT fanatics. We are also passionate about the voice acting world. Our favorite voice actor by far is Rob Paulsen and we went to a comic con solely to meet him, Cam Clark, Barry Gordon, and Townsen Colemon, who comprise the voice cast of the original TMNT cartoon. We signed up for a group photo with all four of them, but the second it was our turn to meet them, I began hyperventilating. I was so nervous, my face was hot, my heart was pounding and I couldn't breathe right. I tried so hard to calm myself but I kept losing my breath every few words, making me kind of pant like I just ran a marathon. I chickened out of being in the picture with my daughter and the guys. Afterwords, Rob took my hand in his with a lovely expression full of empathy and thanked me for being there even though I'm obviously in distress. He spoke so nicely to me and gave me a hug, and even directed the other turtle guys to come over for a group hug! I was so overwhelmed with anxiety meeting the voice actors I've loved for so long, but it was WORTH IT! Instead of leaving with a mind full of embarrassing memories that i would try to suppress later, I left feeling like maybe I didn't traumatize those poor guys with my disruptive cringey problems! It feels so nice to write this, because I constantly have to halt using social media due to nerves and stress, so I havent shared this experience with anyone except family. So yeah, Rob Paulsen is a great guy and this is a great memoir, please know this everyone!

Historia
Stan and Charmaine are a married couple trying to stay afloat in the midst of an economic and social collapse. Job loss has forced them to live in their car, leaving them vulnerable to roving gangs. They desperately need to turn their situation around—and fast. The Positron Project in the town of Consilience seems to be the answer to their prayers. No one is unemployed and everyone gets a comfortable, clean house to live in . . . for six months out of the year. On alternating months, residents of Consilience must leave their homes and function as inmates in the Positron prison system.

Pure Margaret Atwood. Funny, vulgar, unique
Revisado: 04-14-25
This is another amazingly unique story from my favorite author that will never ever bore you. I just love the quirky sci-fi elements and the cast of characters is utilized perfectly. it's up there with the Madd Adam series, I love it.
BUT....
I can just barely stand the female narrator. It's a simple case of a young cutesy girly voice with an obnoxious vocal fry (not always a deal breaker for me) and is unbearablely contrived. The constriction of the narrator's throat gives my vocal chords claustrophobia just hearing it, especially when saying her husband's name "Maaax!".
This may be nothing to most people, so please give this book a listen. What a story!

Historia
From the best-selling author of The Handmaid's Tale and The Testaments - one of Margaret Atwood’s most unforgettable characters lurks at the center of this intricate novel like a spider in a web. The glamorous, irresistible, unscrupulous Zenia is nothing less than a fairy-tale villain in the memories of her former friends. Roz, Charis, and Tony - university classmates decades ago - were reunited at Zenia’s funeral and have met monthly for lunch ever since, obsessively retracing the destructive swath she once cut through their lives.

Revisado: 03-08-25
this is one of my favorite works of fiction of all time, and I don't say this carelessly. it is just wonderful. funny, tragic, full of unique voices throughout, and a quirky spiritual quality I can't explain. and of course, one of the best villains in modern fiction. I've listened to this audiobook all the way through about 4 times, and I know i will again in the future. the narrator is absolutely divine, by the way. loved her in the madd Adam series, and she is just as amazing here. I recommend this book with all my heart.

Five days ago, the epidemic of rage began. Four days ago, the rash of senseless murders swept the nation. Three days ago, the president addressed the country and begged for peace—even as the murders increased tenfold. Two days ago, the killers began to mobilize. One day ago, the power went out. And tonight, the killers are reading the names of those to be killed over the Emergency Broadcast System.

First off, I'd like to give a shout out to all fellow listeners who cheered at the 8min19sec mark. I'm not a proponent of this kind of thing, but it was very satisfying nonetheless. Secondly, this story lives up to its name. It starts off running and doesn't stop. Great story, great action, great mystery; great book altogether. I recommend wholeheartedly.

Pure comfort. Recreates childlike feeling of a bedtime story without losing substance.
Revisado: 10-10-24
I'm certain I reviewed this already, but I don't see it, so here it is again.
I was so happy when I rediscovered this collection on Audible. It was part of the volunteer created library of public domain audiobooks on the Libravox website in the early 2000s. Since discovering it, I've listened to it on hundreds of nights, especially when I'd feel anxious about sleep paralysis. And it works because his voice is just so soothing and entertaining as well. Honestly, my first reaction to the narrator was actually negative, like he was talking down to me. But after about ten minutes, it became extremely pleasant and comforting. And of course, the books themselves are amazing to begin with. They are funny, strange, freaky sometimes, and so addictive! Everyone should give these recordings a proper try. And if you like it, you just downloaded not just a massive amount of entertainment, but years worth of enjoyment.

Historia
The narrator of Atwood's riveting novel calls himself Snowman. When the story opens, he is sleeping in a tree, wearing an old bedsheet, mourning the loss of his beloved Oryx and his best friend Crake, and slowly starving to death. He searches for supplies in a wasteland where insects proliferate and pigoons and wolvogs ravage the pleeblands, where ordinary people once lived, and the Compounds that sheltered the extraordinary. As he tries to piece together what has taken place, the narrative shifts to decades earlier. How did everything fall apart so quickly?

Cabot Cove is about to be invaded - by Hollywood. One of Jessica's older novels is being made into a big-budget movie. The producer has decided to shoot most of the film on location in town, since the book was loosely based on a murder that shocked Cabot Cove over a decade earlier.

Revisado: 06-17-23
Donald Bain and Sandra Burr are a winning combination, and this one truly emphasizes it. I check back on Audible every so often to see if Sandra has made a return to the Jessica Fletcher role, but alas, no luck. This book here is one of the more exceptionally great stories and I've relistened to it at least 4 times. I recommend it wholeheartedly!
