Amusing, but
Revisado: 12-25-22
The narration was excellent, so I listened to the whole book, hoping to eventually discover what is was about. Unfortunately, I have no idea. A dog as narrator was amusing.

Historia
Herschel Cobb's moving account of his relationship with his legendary grandfather reveals a side of Ty Cobb that few people ever saw, that of loving nurturer. A baseball icon and arguably the best player who ever lived, Ty Cobb's infamously cold, competitive nature allowed him to excel on the ball field but undermined his relationship with his children. Devastated by the untimely death of two of his sons, Cobb relished the opportunity to reconnect the broken family ties when young Herschel and his siblings visited him during the summers.

This book is terrific. Narration is perfect. Life tales for younger readers. Icing on the cake to adult readers of Charles Leerhsen’s great bio.

Historia
Over the course of a nearly sixty-year career, Norman Mailer wrote more than 30 novels, essay collections, and nonfiction books. Yet nowhere was he more prolific - or more exposed - than in his letters. All told, Mailer crafted more than 45,000 pieces of correspondence (approximately 20 million words), many of them deeply personal, keeping a copy of almost every one. Now the best of these are published - most for the first time - in one remarkable volume that spans seven decades and several lifetimes.

Enjoyed it all the way through
Revisado: 12-02-19
With an engaging narrator, this audiobook is a de facto autobiography of an interesting late 20th century life. The craft of writing shines through.

Historia
Daniel Defoe's Moll Flanders details the life of the irresistible Moll and her struggles through poverty and sin in search of property and power. Born in Newgate Prison, Moll propels herself through marriages, periods of success and destitution, and a trip to the New World and back, only to return to the place of her birth as a popular prostitute and brilliant thief. The story of Moll Flanders vividly illustrates Defoe's themes of social mobility and predestination, sin, redemption, and reward.
