Historia
From trips on private jets and encounters with world leaders to shocking accounts of misogyny and double standards behind the scenes, this searing memoir exposes both the personal and the political fallout when unfettered power and a rotten company culture take hold. In a gripping and often absurd narrative where a few people carelessly hold the world in their hands, this eye-opening memoir reveals what really goes on among the global elite.

Very interesting and sadly, not surprising
Revisado: 04-17-25
I enjoyed the book and found it thoughtful and insightful, but I was troubled by the fact that there was very little evidence to support much of what was written and that is significant. It’s not that I actually doubt the author because I don’t. I think Facebook is a terrible company and I’ve seen considerable evidence of that over the years myself. But when it’s her word against an entire company and a Cabal., She needs to have more evidence. I think that legally, she probably could not have taken things like emails out of the company, but it would’ve been fascinating if she had been able to present a little more detail and some evidence at least just to help strengthen her case and to get people in power to take notice and do something about the situation. Ultimately, this is an argument about free speech and morality, which do not have to be in conflict, but which seemed to have been at Facebook.

Surprising, Joyous, Beautiful and Perfect for a Quiet Day at Home
Revisado: 10-13-24
I barely knew about any of these artists including Punch Brothers. Nobody plays or talks about “interesting “, good new music on the radio anymore and of course streaming is often all about the same stuff you know and like. But there is a whole universe of wonderful music out there. Was very surprised that Audible introduced me to these amazing artists and the wonderful music that they created and performed. But I’m very happy that they did and I’m hopeful that there will be a lot more. BTW, the setting and story around the performances is fun but also totally believable in these times. We need to think about the future a LOT more, and do something to heal our world. But how great would it be if we could also have fun while we do it? Great stuff…total land highly recommended!

Historia
Revolutionary singer, songwriter, producer, bandleader, and funk icon George Clinton travels the rich cosmos of his musical history. As the second most sampled artist in the world (right behind James Brown), Clinton examines his incongruous path from delivering milk to Sarah Vaughan on Avon Avenue in Newark, New Jersey, to embodying funk as we know it—from Motown to the Mothership. Clinton’s experiences as the mastermind behind his bands Parliament and Funkadelic and as the foremost authority on all things funk make for a distinctive, humorous, and thoughtful journey through modern music.

A fascinating - but far too brief - recollection by George.
Revisado: 08-18-24
If you ever listen to Parliament or George as an independent artist and love the music or are just interested in the band and it’s history, then this is a great way to find a little bit more. I really enjoyed it tremendously and I am so amazed that he still has so much energy in his voice.I very much want to hear more and was wondering if maybe Amazon might produce an audible version of “ Brothas Be…”? That would be fabulous
In the interim, I strongly recommend this to anybody who knows and loves his work and that if his band mates, or just has an interest in music. It went by really fast, and as I mentioned in the title, it left me wanting a lot more.

Jordan McKell has a problem with authority. Unfortunately for him, the iron-fisted authority of the powerful Patthaaunutth controls virtually every aspect of galactic shipping. In order to survive, Jordan ekes out a living dabbling in interstellar smuggling for outlaw concerns that represent the last vestiges of free trade in the galaxy. So when Jordan and his partner, Ixil - an alien with two ferret-like "outhunters" linked to his neural system - are hired by a mysterious gentleman to fly a ship and its special cargo to Earth, they jump at the job.

Fun, action packed tale with stellar narration!
Revisado: 05-15-24
I first read this book when it came out and when I saw it again recently on Audible, I thought it might be interesting to revisit the story in audio form. I’m really glad that I did because the narration was fantastic and deeply impressive. The energy that went into the performance is something I will remember for a long time. As well, I really enjoyed hearing the story again and would highly recommend it for anybody who is a fan of action oriented science fiction or just action stories in general.if you like spies, drama, action then this is probably a good book to check out. I’m going to try the new Timothy Zahn books that are based on this and (fingers crossed), hopefully they will be as much fun as the Icarus Hunt was.

I loved everything about this book. I’m on the hunt for more comedy to counter the negativity in the news and came across this by accident. I’m really happy that I did and I’m hoping there’s going to be a sequel. It’s highly recommended if you are looking for life and especially if you’re nostalgic for the 60s!

This has been a treat to be savored. I’ve kind of rationed the episodes and mainly listened to them on difficult days, to give me a smile. And every episode has been funny and delightful in so many ways. I highly recommend it if you love any form of comedy and especially if you know Dawn and Jennifer from their prior work.

Historia
Almost all accounts of D-Day are told from the Allied perspective, with the emphasis on how German resistance was overcome on June 6, 1944. But what was it like to be a German soldier in the bunkers and gun emplacements of the Normandy coast, facing the onslaught of the mightiest seaborne invasion in history? What motivated the German defenders, what were their thought processes - and how did they fight from one strong point to another, among the dunes and fields, on that first cataclysmic day?

Engaging, but oddly missing unit identification, references, etc., Potentially a fake account
Revisado: 12-24-21
I found this interesting although I’ve never spoken to a veteran who talked about the violent details in the manner presented in this book. As well there was no information on unit numbers or names and a tremendous lack of character identification, along with a complete lack of any kind of reference to source material, makes me question how this is actual history. It seems more likely to me that it is all fabricated based upon real historical records in public accounts. So it’s interesting but not truly informative and that angers me (if I’m right). Distortion of history is a crime against all of us and especially when it’s done for profit. If this had been marketed as a historical fiction it would be completely different and I wouldn’t have any problem excepting it. But as it is I leave the book really disappointed and can’t recommend it.

Rock and roll in the BC (Before Cooper) era was a tamer, milder world. In Who I Really Am, Cooper’s latest addition to Audible’s Words + Music series, we learn how the boa-wearing (not the feathered kind) maestro arrived at a show and sound - let’s call it AC for After Cooper - that has entertained millions of kids while terrifying parents in equal measure. Cooper drew inspiration from Saturday matinee horror movies, applied a "no such thing as too much" attitude, and hitched it to a kick-ass rock and roll band.

Revisado: 12-14-21
This is a fun listen for anybody who knows and likes Alice, or simply "classic" rock. Great stories, and very well written and told by Alice Cooper himself (not the band ;-). I really enjoyed it, and while it was sequenced, and covered many highlights...I am certain he could have gone on for several hours, or more. I especially loved some of the stories of the old days, people Alice knew, all the bits about his family (he has been blessed, it seems in that regard). Highly recommended!

He’s volunteered for a secret raid, dragging along with him his unit of misfits. They fall under the command of Colonel Ulric Dahlgren and set out on a quest for redemption and vengeance that will strike at the head of the Southern Cause. Enjoyable military history fiction, but rather short
Revisado: 10-31-21
The 1st book was a tense and interesting exploration of the Civil War. This one is a bit more dynamic and full of action (and tragedy), but somehow it was less exciting than book one.
Good characters (mostly, Dahlgren was rather 1 dimensional), great dialogue, well written combat scenes and reasonable links to real history …all of which drive the story steadily forward. I’ll definitely continue the series, but I wish the books were a bit longer. Still recommended:-)
