Historia
Madame Landini’s memoirs promised to be sensational. Rodney, who had captured them for his publishing house, and Oliver, his literary agent friend who would handle the business side of the book, could congratulate themselves on a brilliant coup. But having covered her childhood as a Russian princess, her years of exile in Paris, and the discovery of her phenomenal voice, the prima donna reached her first husband’s death — "man overboard" — and declared she would write no more. Rodney suspected there was more to this than a display of temperament.

Enjoyed this one quite a bit
Revisado: 11-16-22
Particularly loved the character of Nicola, and enjoyed her interactions... Had to swallow irritation at how the otherwise-lovely main character orders the women around, but understand it was normal at the time? Still managed to enjoy the story and characters enough to give it a 2nd listen once I finished it. Soothing story for bedtime.

Historia
Greenhurst, a sleepy English village, had not changed since a year ago when the Waynes of Wood Mount fought so fiercely to keep their home together and undesirable characters out of it. But now the place was buzzing with news of Miss Dryden-Smith's sudden death. To think that all these years the village had never known that she had a son! And what of the loud-but-likable American playwright who had just wound his way to Wood Mount?

So disappointing
Revisado: 07-18-22
Love these characters and was so pleased to spend more time with them but found this story disappointing and the ending extremely so.
will have to read the 3rd book in hopes of a more satisfying arc....

Penniless Elinor is rather surprised at the carriage that meets her from the stage, and more so at the decayed grandeur of the house to which she's transported. Realising that there has been a case of mistaken identity she agrees to an audacious plan.

One of my least favorite of hers
Revisado: 04-13-20
In general , I’m a big fan but unlike many of her characters, this heroine is annoying throughout the entire story. Great narration couldn’t save an inexplicably lame chat. Kept thinking she’d snap out of it but she whines and poured from start to finish.

Love the intelligent humor throughout this book. Bit of a different formula for GH; really enjoyed it. And a great performance

Stoneybridge is a small town on the west coast of Ireland where all the families know one another. When Chicky Starr decides to take an old, decaying mansion set high on the cliffs overlooking the windswept Atlantic Ocean and turn it into a restful place for a holiday by the sea, everyone thinks she is crazy. Helped by Rigger (a bad boy turned good who is handy around the house) and Orla, her niece (a whiz at business), Chicky is finally ready to welcome the first guests to Stone House’s big warm kitchen, log fires, and understated elegant bedrooms.

Revisado: 04-16-18
A friendly voice reminding us who we are and how to navigate tough times with wisdom, courage and kindness. This hit home on a personal level as well as a societal one.
Comforting, encouraging, inspiring and challenging. This is one that I’ll turn right around and listen to again...
