Cody Perron has clearly seen some things in his time as a special agent, but he tells his story in a very relatable way. The descriptions of people, places, and modes of transportation all help the reader feel like they are standing in the middle of the scene. It's incredible to think that one person could experience so much throughout a short career, and the book is definitely required reading for anyone interested in the work of one of the most little-known federal law enforcement agencies.

I've listened to around 100 audiobooks, and am always skeptical when a book is narrated by the author instead of a professional voice actor. In Cody's case, however, he is an absolute natural story teller and the audio version would never be the same without his subtle Cajun twang. Hearing his voice gives that extra dimension to the book, filling it with just enough emotion and really nailing the little quips and asides. I believe this was his first venture in voiceover work, and he did a fantastic job. I absolutely recommend listening to Agents Unknown.
