Historia
Wren Greenrock has always known that one day she’d steal her sister’s place on the throne. Trained from birth to return to the palace and avenge her parents’ murder, she’ll do anything to become queen and protect the community of witches who raised her. Or she would, if only a certain guard wasn’t quite so distractingly attractive, and if her reckless magic would stop causing trouble. . . .

Narration, story, pacing … almost perfect for me
Revisado: 03-26-24
I just love it. Didn’t super overdo the overall plot which is a breath of fresh air honestly. The world isn’t too complicated or over explained. Bouncing back and forth between 2 sisters and their equally swoony love stories is just fun. Personally my favorite romance read is the angsty flirty stage teetering on the next step and this checks all those boxes in abundance.
Narration between prim rose and sassy wren is so well done. I love all the characters.
Thank you for this! Can’t wait to get into book 2.

Disliked the FL
Revisado: 02-02-24
Fan of Elise Kova obviously. Could not get into this one. I think I’m getting really tired of unaffected, strong, overly sassy sarcastic leads, and Victoria is the tropiest trope of that. She goes through horrendous trauma, and the book says how much she hurts, but I don’t feel it at all in how she acts. She keeps moving on. ML is flawless and boring. Nothing about him made me swoon like a lot of her other ML. I quit at chapter 33, right where the ‘spice’ is finally about to hit it sounds like. The plot and world were good, but I just don’t care about these 2 characters at all.

Historia
Power is much easier to acquire than it is to hold onto. Jude learned this lesson when she released her control over the wicked king, Cardan, in exchange for immeasurable power. Now as the exiled mortal Queen of Faerie, Jude is powerless and left reeling from Cardan's betrayal. She bides her time, determined to reclaim everything he took from her. Opportunity arrives in the form of her deceptive twin sister, Taryn, whose mortal life is in peril.

I couldn’t finish it
Revisado: 11-27-23
This book was torture to read and random to the point I couldn’t finish it. Got about 3/4 of the way through, thought it would pick up after she finally gets back in the castle. But I stopped listening to audio books because ‘I had to finish this’ and kept putting it off since I have ZERO interest in how it ends at this point. I finally took it off my device so I can move on. Maybe I’ll get back to it someday, I enjoyed the first 2 books ok. Not my favorite series though, I wouldn’t recommend it. Her world building is beautiful. Her pacing it very odd to me and I don’t understand the choices the characters make sometimes. I get whiplash. This frequently takes me out of the story which is annoying.
