I should have listened to the epilogue first! It was interesting how the author stepped out of her normal story lines to write a piece reflective of her parent’s relationship. Can’t wait to see the on screen version!

As usual, I love the author narrated memoirs. However, this was had a special twist. I lived in Arkansas for 12 years. 4 in Little Rock and 8 in Northwest Arkansas. I’ve met Jill, Derrick, and Jessa while out and about around town and lived just around the corner from where Jill and Derrick first lived after getting married. There was so much of this story that I had no idea happened! It was really interesting to hear the story from her perspective and how far the older kids have come in their journey of faith. It’s a quick listen but good enough that you will want to binge it.

I have seemed to have gotten on a memoir kick lately and I really enjoy the titles where the author narrates themselves. It bring so much more feeling and emotion to the story. MMcC has a voice “like butta” anyway so I truly enjoyed the listen. For the story itself, I was born in the early 80s so I have unknowingly been a fan his whole career! Dazed and Confused rolled out in my high school years and was my favorite movie and ABSOLUTE favorite soundtrack that I had on cassette tape! 🤣🤣🤣 I literally still have the tape and no way to listen to it! Maybe I should list it on EBay? Anyway, I had no idea that movie was his first film appearance! I truly enjoyed the story and the way that these memoirs make someone that is this famous celebrity that lives on another planet seem like a real, every day person who grew up in the real world with real world thoughts and problems. ❤️

If you have read the other stories (or seen the movies) associated with the 1996 incident, you will likely enjoy this book. It was an interesting perspective to read each version of the events from different people and I enjoyed that this version included so many first person accounts of what was going on by other participants. I was initially confused why the story was being told in reverse where Beck’s Everest trip led into his earlier life instead of the other way around but once I got into it, I could appreciate the things in his earlier life that impacted the things that happened that day and post accident. Overall a great read.
