Historia
In a prosperous yet gruesomely violent near future, superhero vigilantes battle thugs whose heads are full of supervillain fantasies. The peace is kept by a team of smooth, well-dressed negotiators called The Men in Fancy Suits. Meanwhile a young girl is caught in the middle and thinks the whole thing is ridiculous. Zoey, a recent college graduate with a worthless degree, makes a reluctant trip into the city after hearing that her estranged con artist father died in a mysterious yet spectacular way.

Almost Perfect
Revisado: 04-29-22
I love it. The nararrator did a good job with an expressive voice and disting personalities for each character. Accents were not amazing, but definitely no the worst I've heard. The story is interesting and it's genuinely funny, and mixes the ridiculous backdrop and setting with the serious nature of the conflict in a way that doesn't feel jarring or forced. Maybe even a little too well, judging by some of these other reviews that seem to misinterpet what parts are supposed to be taken at face value. Social commentary may be a bit obvious, but being the first book in a series can often times focus more on setup for future elaboration and nuance, which I believe is the case here. It's one of my favorites, to the point where I wish he would release a third one before the next John Dies book.

Historia
Two necromancers, a dwarf kingdom, and a sky city - it sounds like a prelude to mayhem, and given Timmy’s luck, that’s exactly what’s going to happen. To keep his castle and earn his pardon, Timmy has his work cut out for him. Whether it’s rescuing princesses, crushing hordes of goblins, or dealing with eldritch abominations, Timmy and the gang are there to save the day - and rob the occasional crime lord. But saving the day isn’t always easy.

Wonderful narration, charming story
Revisado: 01-29-22
As always, Fred Berman does an amazing job giving this story it's voice. I'm not a huge fan of Avranial's voice, but everyone else sounds amazing and distinctive, which isn't always the case with audio books. The story is still charming and kind of heartwarming. It repeats some details a little too often, and seems to have some small anachronisms that don't quite fit but none stick out so much that i have specific examples right now and ultimately it's still funny and fun with great characters who manage to to stay consistent and still subvert from time to time. I only wish I had a Timmy in my life when I was younger, and would put him in the same league as Uncle Iroh in the wholesome father figure department. I highly suggest the series for people looking for a lighthearted listen that manages to make you smile, both with humor and genuine warmth.

Historia
Still bruised and heartbroken from their last calamitous quest, Gorm Ingerson and his band of washed-up heroes try to make amends for the orcs they accidentally betrayed. But justice is put on hold when an old foe marches to the city gates. Gorm is horrified to discover a liche pitching the frightened city-dwellers on the merits of the undead lifestyle...at the head of a corpse army. To save the city from high-pressure sales tactics and an inevitable siege, the dwarf warrior and his misfit band hatch a harebrained scheme that lands them at the top of the king’s kill list.

hilarious and intelligent.
Revisado: 12-22-21
A good book that uses a capitalistic fantasy backdrop to explore diversity and integration as well as the problems with different power structures while letting you enjoy a fun, if somewhat straightforward and formulaic, fantasy plot with just enough twists and humor to keep it interesting without trying too hard to be so. I really enjoy the anachronistic nature of the series and how the author blends it with a fairly well thought out fantasy society that feels realistic. I highly recommend this series. The performance is extremely well done, with my one complaint being that the female characters' voices are all somewhat similar, which is disappointing considering the range that the rest of the cast got.
