Good listen but the storyline left something to be desired when it came to the sisters. There are books I want to read, books I want to listen too, and books I want to read AND listen too. This is one that I would not read but I would listen too. it is a one and done for me.

The Best Book

This book is excellently written and recorded. For the generation that remembers Vietnam, Kent State, the protests - be ready for an emotional rollercoaster ride.

This book made me remember one of the most heartbreaking, heartfelt, and emotional times of my life.

I remember the Vietnam "Conflict", I remember the protests, I remember the letter we got telling us my father was missing in action, then the following letter stating he was wounded in action. I remember the POWs stepping onto US soil and their families.

I remember my Father's praise of the nurse that kept him alive and his fury Everytime he heard *there weren't any women there.* The women are the forgotten ones and we need to remember them also.

I read this book obout 30 years ago. in fact I read almost everything written by this author about 30 or so years ago. I kept thos books on my personal library because not only were they well written..

The reader brought this book to life. I was never bored with the story. There was so much more richness to the story because of the readers performance. I really enjoyed everything about the book and the way it was read.

overall it was nice. It just didn't seem to be as good as Aiken's other books. There just wasn't "enough" substance to it. Too many characters that were important were left out or mentioned only once in passing. Though I will say the 3 colts were a plus!

would I listen again? Maybe. Would I buy the book? No. There are books I buy to read , books I buy to read AND the same books I listen too, then there are ones I only listen too. This book was a "listen to only" book.

Loved it and the previous two also. there were places it dragged but overall a good listen. Love RC Bray. Would listen to him read a dictionary or World Book encyclopedia or a phone book and enjoy it.

overall ok book. Too much graphic sex. ok, they're gonna have sex but really, I don't HAVE to know every little graphic detail so often. Too much sex, not enough story. The first in the series left me wanting to hear more of the Shadow Riders, this one just didn't seem to have the same quality of the others.

with that said, will I look for the next book in the series? Well of course! Dario's story is in there somewhere!

I struggled to finish this book. Even though the narration was good, it took way too long for the story to develop. Maggie/Magnolia was a royal PIA and I got really tired of her dramatics. Jonah was, well he just was. All the characters seemed to not fully develop during the story.

This is one series I won't follow and am sad I spent a credit for it.

Really struggled to finish this AND the author is one of my favorites of all time. This book made me wonder what the h-e-double hockey sticks happened!

I was very disappointed with the narrator as well as the main characters. OMG, I wanted to throat punch Syd. I forced myself to listen to the very bitter end. This is one book I'll be deleting and NEVER listening or reading again.
