Historia
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

Haunting
Revisado: 07-20-24
Vance's brutally honest story of life growing up in Appalachia with a drug dependent mother, generational alcoholism, poverty and abuse hauntingly reflects my own childhood and that of so many people I knew from that area! Hillbilly Elegy is a gripping story you won't want to put down.

Historia
In Captive in Iran, Maryam and Marziyeh recount their 259 days in Evin. It’s an amazing story of unyielding faith - when denying God would have meant freedom. Of incredible support from strangers around the world who fought for the women’s release. And of bringing God’s light into one of the world’s darkest places - giving hope to those who had lost everything, and showing love to those in despair.

Riveting!
Revisado: 10-31-23
This book is a must read. It was completely inspiring and captivating. The passion and love these two women have for Jesus and the courage they showed throughout unbelievable persecution is a true testimony of their unwavering faith! They are the modern day sisters to Corrie & Betsy Ten Boom. I will be reading it again as I enjoyed the Audible version which is very well narrated.

Historia
What if emotional abuse is so hidden that its effects remain unchallenged for decades, masquerading as personal failings? Believing Me is an emotionally gripping memoir that gives language to the hidden and ineffable nature of childhood trauma and how it can imprint on a person, resulting in fractured self-esteem, addictions, perfectionism, and a string of abusive relationships.

So validating!
Revisado: 03-30-23
Ingrid Clayton does an amazing job sharing her story with the world. She completely captures her personal experience and feelings related to a childhood spent with a narcissistic, abusive stepfather and a mother who chose to believe his lies over her daughter's heartbreaking truth. Clayton very effectively tells her story from childhood through adulthood seeking to be heard and to be believed. It's a book you can't put down! Especially validating for anyone who suffered similar childhood trauma and struggles to make sense of the pain and confusion resulting from the trauma. I know so many people who will benefit from reading this book! I certainly have.

Awesome story!
Revisado: 03-23-23
Tara Coyote shares her moving story in an absolutely beautiful and inspiring way. It is awesome to journey with her through the most difficult of times to a renewed life of sharing the results of her "true grit" and the "gratitude" referred to in the title. Her deep understanding of horses and the mystical relationship she has with them is beyond awe inspiring. Truly a great story. You will be glad you got this one!

Beautiful story & narration.
Revisado: 01-21-23
This is a great children's story. Grandkids loved it. It is Very well narrated and held their attention as they learned about children and foods from other cultures. It's a great story for promoting curiosity about and sensitivity to others' ways of life. My grandkids really identified with little Zoey's feelings as they listened.
